Tilt Align and Y Scaling

I know this has been discussed in other threads, but I am still confused.

I understand tilt align orients the reticle gyroscope based on gravity. So Id think you either want this at 100 or 0 depending on preference.

However, what is Y scaling, and how does it have in impact on real gameplay?  Thanks for any and all help.

Y scaling makes it so that vertical aiming is less sensitive than horizontal.
