Using this set up for months, cables data etc all good;
then i updated controller 1708 to firm 5.11.3118.0

when plugging in xim usb
(usually cause contoller comes unplugged during game play) it would turn on the controller after a bit. no longer does so I do manually.
in halo the "please connect controller" would show twice; after the second time the mouse would ALAWAYS work..
now it shows message twice but mouse does nothing.

tried
- hard reset pull power cable 60 secs
- different usb slot for xim
- different usb slot for mouse
- updating xim = latest already
- flashed xim = latest firm already
- dont have another controller :(
- uplugging xim pluuging in xim

any help ..what a xmas gift from microsoft firm ware

Did you update your controller through your XIM?

Ok, as I understand there may be issues doing it that way but I'm not sure. There have been other posts here taking about it and recovering from it. We just need to find them. Also for firmware you used the one in XIM4 Downloads?

Ok I found this. Can you check if this works?:

"This seems to be caused by updating the controller firmware while XIM is connected. A fix was found by downgrading the controller firmware:

1) Unplug XIM
2) Open Xbox Assist from games & apps
3) Get Help (top left)
4) Console & Accessories > Controller > My controller has connection issues after the last update > Check controller firmware > Revert firmware

Once the firmware is reverted it can then be updated without XIM connected."

If you can use it without updating, then do that. If you have to, then only do this directly connected. It should work through XIM and if there is a problem doing that way it should figure that out. But others have had issues, so only do it directly connected if you have to do it at all.

I'd go ahead and revert back to the XIM4 firmware you were using before as well. It's in the Archive board under Downloads. Go back to everything you had before and it should work just like before.

I just tested with a 5.11.3118.0 controller and also a XIM4 with latest firmware and everything is working. I just needed to press the Guide button after everything else was fully initialized.

Try starting up without your peripherals connected except your controller and see if you can get the green light sequence on your XIM4. Press Guide after everything is started up.
