[ACTIVE] mouse and keyboard not working
« on: 08:07 AM - 11/19/21 »
My xim has been working flawlessly for the past year, but my xbox updated last night and since then the xim hasn’t been working. The inputs are showing up on the xim app and the keyboard and mouse and not broken, but when i try to use it on my xbox series s, nothing seems to happen and i can’t use it.

i’m on the most updated version for the app and the xim itself, my elite series 2 controller also updated last night, and since then, it hasn’t worked.

It may be necessary to now press the controller guide button after APEX has finished initializing your peripherals. If pressed too early or not at all then APEX won't work correctly. Here's the note from the beta thread:

NOTE: You may be required to press Guide on your Xbox controller if you don't see the green initialization lights on your XIM after startup. In which case, wait until your devices (i.e. mouse and keyboard) are fully initialized before pressing Guide (otherwise your controller may connect wirelessly to your console).

this is what i am doing, the xim works for a a few seconds WHILE the controller is connecting (flashing) and then once the controller fully connects, it doesn’t work.

About the controller update from your Xbox, when the updated happened was the controller connected to APEX?

There's another person reporting this too. You've mentioned using an Elite 2 controller, can you confirm if the problem is happening using a Series controller or an older Xbox One controller too?

Is input registered in Manager's HUD while your peripherals aren't working with the console?

Also, if your remove the controller battery and connect the controller directly to the console, does input from your controller work with the console?

yes the controller WAS connected during the update, and the xim IS working with my old original xbox one controller that HASNT updated yet, The inputs ARE showing up at the bottom of the manager app, and when i remove the batteries, the controller DOES work perfectly fine. Another thing i noticed, when i’m using the xim with my elite controller, nothing seems to work, except the key bind i have for the guide button (f11). But when i use my original xbox one controller it’s fine. I think the controller update for my elite series 2 controller messed up the authentication with the xim because the old controller that hasn’t updated works how the elite did before the update.

of course, it’s 5.11.3118.0. That is the firmware version for the elite series 2 controller that isn’t working with the xim.

Thanks, can you tell us if your controller works normally if you plug it into you XIM APEX directly (no USB hub)? Does it initialize, do you see the green lights on your XIM, and can you press buttons on your controller and they all work?

This seems to be caused by updating the controller firmware while XIM is connected. A fix was found by downgrading the controller firmware:

1) Unplug XIM
2) Open Xbox Assist from games & apps
3) Get Help (top left)
4) Console & Accessories > Controller > My controller has connection issues after the last update > Check controller firmware > Revert firmware

Once the firmware is reverted it can then be updated without XIM connected.
