Halo Infinite Acceleration
« on: 07:04 PM - 11/16/21 »
Hey everyone, mist4fun gave me a preview of Infinite and micro-aim is excellent. However, turn speed as pointed out here already is a concern. The trainer confirms what we've already observed -- it looks to be a dual-zone system. Once you hit a certain point of stick defection, your reticle starts accelerating over time. I have no idea why any developer would put time-based acceleration into a game's aim. It's unpredictable and disorienting (even for controller gamers), but, it's there.

For our recommended settings, we are considering saying to use 1 acceleration and building the translator around that to reduce the problem. However, I've seen a lot of people using 5 acceleration right now. I was looking for feedback on this. Do you really feel like 5 is better than 1 acceleration and produces more consistent aim?

In every game I prefer the lowest acceleration possible for better consistency. I did 1 accel in h5 but the turn speed is just so slow in infinite that I currently feel forced to use 5 accel and think it may be best to build it around that this time.

Edit - if you and mist feel like the turn speed is good enough on the translator with 1 accel then I would vote 1 accel.

Some dude on the forum named Wreckful posted a config he made using the Halo 5 translator. He uses 1 acceleration and it’s by far the best settings I’ve used so far.

It's hard to say, I have mine setup where I try to stay at the edge of the "first aim zone" unless I need to turn. I feel I am turning faster on 5 overall but I can't stand acceleration as a whole so I'm really not sure what to say. I'm gonna vote for 1 anyways

It’s weird usually no accel would be preferred but this game it feels helpful to have accel. I think whatever y’all pick will work. You guys are usually spot on

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm not sure if the maximum turn speed is higher on 5, it just gets there faster resulting in worse determinism. It isn't to say you still can't switch to 5 acceleration if you want to. I don't believe training on 1 and using 5 will make much of a difference as compared to training on 5 since timed acceleration is so unpredictable.

I've tried with the acceleration at various levels. I prefer it at 1. Otherwise it's so unpredictable. I hope they up the turn speed of enough people complain

Personally I'm using 5 acceleration right now because using anything less, the overall aim of the game feels too slow for me, no matter what settings I put on the XIM, and worse when at 1 accel, I can really feel when it kicks in, and is rather jarring.

It's kind of like turbo lag in a car.  Really struggles to move at low RPM but when the turbo kicks in, it's a drastic change in output.  That's what it feels like to me with 1 vs 5.  I assume it's because with 5, the accel kicks in so quickly/early that I don't necessarily feel the "jolt" of it, and I can more easily adapt to it. If that makes sense.

I'm playing at 3200 DPI at 500hz and I find I have a ton of headroom if I want to aim faster with the look speed at 1. I've tried 1 through 5. At least 1 is more consistent. It's just constantly hitting the max turn speed that is annoying.

I tried 1 and it just felt too slow. Switched to 4/5 and felt like it became really snappy. It is inconsistent obviously, but the tradeoff for me seemed better overall.

I'm Onyx in Ranked and stomping on people with an average 80% accuracy a match with the 1 Acceleration, 500 Sensitivity based config I posted here: https://community.xim.tech/index.php?topic=97697.0

So, yeah I'd say 1 Accel  :)

I'd also humbly suggest people not relying on fast turn speed to save them from bad positioning on the map.  I'm stomping on people in Onyx by keeping the enemy in front of me, and not relying on fast turn speeds to "save me" from pushing to far/playing too aggressively.  With a precise aiming config and being smart about player placement on the map, you'll never notice the slow turn speeds.

Maybe train it on acceleration 1 for those seeking the highest PC like accuracy and check how well it performs under acceleration 5 then. Since you will have more acceleration on 5 anyway it shouldnt matter much if the ST trained on 1 causes even more acceleration due to not being optimized for 5.

Alternatively, if the turnspeed is the same then maybe a curve can be provided for acceleration 1 that mimics the mouse feeling of acceleration 5.

I tried 1 accel the first day, and then 5 yesterday. I felt like I had more success with 5 accel personally. But it's really hard to say. Turning felt faster, but micro movements felt less accurate.

There's always going to be a time where you need to turn quickly no matter how well you position yourself...
