PS5 BF 2042
« on: 02:52 PM - 08/31/21 »
So i know the new update supports certain 3rd party controllers to be used to play ps5 games. Will it only work for certain games or should it be able to work with future titles such as bf 2042?

BF 2042 checks for Dual Sense controller, - it won't work with XIM.

Confirmed by a friend who works on gaming journalism, he tried a closed alpha for press months ago.

He wasn't looking for XIM compatibility, he doesn't even know about it... just told me that DualSense mechanics with weapons is the differentiator factor on PS, while on XBS is the cross progression XB to PC.

No native Keyboard and Mouse Support either.

Really? even if i used the hori mini gamepad or the other controllers listed that can work with ps5 games? if so im gonna be upsetty spaghetti

Sorry for deliver the bad news, yeah... no sir, it won't work with 3rd party controllers either.

Game will search for Dualsense Controller only.

The only option is settle with lower graphics on the PS4 version, but buying a new console for playing past gen games is wack, right?.

Yeah no kidding this actually sucks, i bought it for ps5 and got a ps5 really for this and demon souls. i have a pc but i want it to run perfect and also be able to opt out of pc considering the hackers and the recent deal with hackers getting like a tb of info on the new engine. i know it works fine with the series x supposedly but @#$%. is there even a possibility of a firmware update to support ps5 controllers like ever?? also upgrading to a better pc is super hard as of late and figured it be a better idea for the triple as to run on a ps5

I feel you, my friends (IRL) only play on Playstation, slaughtering squeaker try-hards is our poker night, you know. I have a decent PC rig, but I'm sick of hackers...

Even though I got XBSX as a gift... I rarely play on it, enjoyed every minute how smooth it runs... but miss my friends.

XIM Devs let us know they stop looking for workarounds, maybe in the future if there is a breakthrough, can't speak for them, can't blame them either, Sony is doing anticonsumer practices, is annoying for us but for speciality controller for disable people is even worse.

Honestly you are in the best moment to sell your PS5 and get an XB series S and make a profit on it. Just saying.

I will get back to the controller on PS5, seat back and play less... got my thumb almost rip-off on an accident, reconstructed can't play for long without pain.
In the same boat my dude, all my friends are either on ps or pc. so this just straight up blows. thanks for the answer though. Truly would be a godsend if xim apex can get full ps5 support

The game supports cross-play between consoles and PC so are you sure there's no native keyboard and mouse support?

Positive, keep in mind it was a preview version this might change (finger crossed).

Yep 100%, through and through no issues.

Hi Alan, this news has just hit me like a ton of bricks too, but you sound like you'll know more about this than me, you may have some cross play experience from other games and I've only played PS.

So the PS5 is out and the XboxX is in, I'll get over it. All my friends are on PS5 though.

When it comes to cross play do you know;

1) How does cross play work when adding people to your game/squad?

2) Can you add friends (as in friend request) across platforms? I'm assuming I'll need to find my mates quickly.

3) How do cross platform chat settings work? I'm assuming in game chat works, but maybe party chat doesn't?

I read an old edit thread about it and someone suggested getting the Arctis 9 headphones which can connect to the console and mobile phone at the same time. Then you could just use the PSN app to join friends party chats.

I know remote play has been said countless times but there is a really good way of doing it. If you happen to have an extra screen to set up and set up your xim on what its being streamed on, you could just use the original screen to play on and i havent been able to notice any input lag tbh. truly a god send ;D

using wifi on my console and using ethernet for my pc. Essentially just streaming my inputs from my xim.
Turned down the quality of the stream to 540p and 30fps to get some more pow for the latency. And i couldn't notice any input lag at all. Tested it today on a ps4 pro on bfv. Was getting 40 - 50 kill games on tdm. I think since im streaming in home network theres essentially non existent lag.

And of course im using the original screen so im getting native resolution and 60 fps

The reason I ask is because I was looking into taking one of these to use instead of a PC ($10): https://www.adafruit.com/product/3400?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrNDy3uTh8gIVQgnnCh1aUAPBEAQYASABEgIOnfD_BwE

There is an excellent open source PS5 Remote Play client out there that would run on this board but wouldn't work well because of the video decoding -- which isn't needed. I would modify the code to ignore it.

Are you using WiFi 6? If not, what version of Wifi is your router.
