What monitor are you using on the new x bone?
Dell S2721DGF. It is crispy for 1440p gaming on console or PC. PS5 will add 1440p sooner or later. Until then, 1080p @ 120Hz will do the job on this screen.

4K is pointless for desktop gaming. 1440p is the perfect pixel density on a 27” screen, i.e. there’s no difference between 1440p and 4K at 27”.

Anything larger than 27” on a desk is too big for competitive gaming. I used a 32” screen for years and upgraded to a 43” 4K screen last year. 43” is impossibly large for 16:9 aspect gaming, but is great for productivity (video editing etc) or 21:9 Ultra-wide 1440 gaming. 32:9 super-ultra 1080 also works, but looks stupid (heavy warping at edges).

I use the 27” screen for gaming and the 43” for work. Having the equivalent of 4 x 21” 1080p screens in one is great for productivity, but is terrible for gaming.

Does this Dell monitor work with PS5 1080 120 without any adapters?

Yes. 1080p at 120Hz works fine on PS5 over HDMI 2.0.

lovely, for some reason this monitor did not come up on any of my searches. Finally question, does this monitor have a crosshair overlay

Nope, no gaming gimmicks are on the Dell monitor.

You can get the same screen on an LG 27”, which has the reticle overlay, but it doesn’t support VRR.

If you wanted a bit more gamer gimmicks (FPS Counter, Full RGB customization, HDR 600) check out the Alienware AW2721D. I would consider the Alienware if the prices are similar. Both the S2721DGF and AW2721D are on sale on the dell website.

FreeSync is only available over DisplayPort on this model. Both PS5 & Series X use FreeSync and don’t support DisplayPort.

That is very disappointing considering it is not mentioned on their website or documentation, only mentioned by R-Tings. But I understand as it contains the G-Sync Module. The S2721DGF is cheaper anyways.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that no one model seems to offer everything we want for console gaming. I originally purchased the LG because it did have an on-screen reticle, but returned it due to no VRR support.

Well, the VG27AQL1A from TUF seems to have it all, but I may be mistaken,

Make sure it's on the list of compatible monitors for 120Hz, 1440p and VRR, with low display lag. A quick Google search will link to Reddit with the list of supported screens.

Samsung G7 has it all too, except the screen is curved...blech! I'll take flat screen any day of the week.

This is wording straight from Asus website:

"Full HD(1920 X 1080)@120Hz & 1440P (2560 x 1440)@60Hz output on PS5; Full HD &1440P(2560 x 1440)@120Hz VRR output on Xbox Series X/S"

This seems to be a clear indication that on x bone 1440 120 and VRR are all supported and I would imagine VRR is not listed under PS5 because the console currently does not support it.

Yeah, the stand has to be able to take the occasional desk rage slam.
