[RESOLVED] Xbox controller not connecting  (Read 155 times)

[RESOLVED] Xbox controller not connecting

I have updated to the latest software,  and have the Xbox series X. When I plug in my old Xbox one controller, it does not read it. It does not show up in the app as well as turn on. I have unplugged the XIM, plugged everything into it, then plug that into the Xbox and it still doesn’t show up. I have tried three different cables, as well as tried plugging in my new Xbox series X controller and it still doesn’t read it. When I plug it in the XIM is red.

Welcome to the community. Did you try turning on the controller (pressing Guide) after everything starts up?

Hi i have the same issue, On the apex manager app it is showing my mouse and keyboard are connected but not my controller, i have tried all the steps on the fault finding but still no joy, i'm using a numskull official xbox USB-C cable (charge and play).

Have you got a link for a cable that will work as i have a feeling this cable might be causing the issue?

could you elaborate on that? Is the guide button the Xbox button?

Yes I have. When I plug it in the controller doesn’t turn on, I’ve heard it is meant to. When I plug it in it does the color sequence then stays red. I have tried turning the controller on once it is plugged in, but then that controller controls it and not my mnk.

Yep exactly the same for me, when i plug everything in, my Xbox X controller rumbles but doesn't come on and when i push the xbox button the controller comes on but isn't showing on the manager app.

Hence the fact i think my USB C cable isn't working and was asking if anyone has a link to a cable that is known to work.

I tried plugging an old 360 controller in and it registers on the app but obviously won't work on the X series.

OK I finally figured it out. I grabbed every single USB Cable I could find in my house and test of them. I finally found one. I cannot give you the link for this cable, because I have no idea where it came from. However I suggest you go to Best Buy or Amazon or someplace and get a cable but be sure to make sure it’s a data cable not a charging cable. This is the best solution I can offer. Does it matter if the USB data cable is 2.0 or 3.0??

A micro-USB cable (used to connect a console controller to your XIM's hub) is never USB 3.0.
