XIM Apex Xbox Series X Plug and Play?

Hi all, sorry for what is no doubt a repeated post, but I've red through all the posts and it's still unclear to me.

I've just taken delivery of a Series X what I want to know is

1) using my old control pad can I just plug my Xim Apex straight in as normal and it will work?
2) Do my game profiles just carry over, eg I don't need to touch my configs?
Finally
3) If the above is correct what is the advantage of Downloading the Xbox Series X Beta Firmware, as I've read a few problems.

1) Series X is supported by the latest beta firmware. An Xbox One or Xbox Series X controller can be used on an Xbox One with non-beta firmware.

2) Configs are stored on APEX itself, all of this will still be there assuming you choose update when using the flash tool instead of factory reset.

3) If you would like to use APEX with a Series X console the beta firmware is needed. The Xbox related issues have been the console shutting off but this is a widely reported issue around the web from non-xim gamers too. There have been a couple of Xbox Insider updates and controller firmware updates that have aimed to fix this and they have as far as I know.
