FYI before anyone starts giving suggestions or solutions: I am using update to date firmware and apex manager iOS app, set my primary connection method as wired on console, and a verified 3rd party controller.
I am having issues with keeping a consistent connection of my controllers that I use with the XIM Apex. I am currently playing on Playstation 5 and I use a Nacon Wired Compact PS4 Controller as my 3rd party controller. I have two main controllers that I use for gaming: a SCUF Infinity Pro (basically a DualShock 4 with paddles) and an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. Here are the issues I currently have when I use the Console Controller Crossover configuration.
For the SCUF Infinity Pro:
I can successfully make a wired connection, however this will cause some kind of artificial input on the right thumbstick. And that results in the output staying stuck in a rotation (basically all I can see is my character continuously spinning clockwise. This problem goes away if I change to a wireless connection. I've tried adjusting the deadzones and sensitivity, but it seems like using a wired connection is no longer a feasible option and I have to go wireless.
For the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2:
The first time I connected this to my PS5, I followed all of the required steps (plug 3rd party controller in port 3, wait for the 3 flashing green lights in XIM, use Console Controller Crossover with the PS4 profile) and this worked until I swapped to a wireless connection. Upon switching to wireless, it appears that I can't go back to wired connection because the XIM Apex isn't able to detect the Xbox controller, however the Apex manager app shows that its connected along side the 3rd party controller. I press all the buttons on my xbox controller, but no input is detected. Now I have to basically delete my configs, reset the xbox controller and repeat all the steps as if I am making the wired connection for the very first time.
I did notice that the Console controller crossover configuration doesn't allow you to re-map the Guide button on the xbox controller with the actual guide button. By default the mapping shows it as blank, basically that means if you press the guide button nothing will happen. And I think is why the controller won't be detected if you switch from going wireless to wired. I keep pressing the guide button, the controller is obviously turned on, but hasn't established a connection with the XIM Apex nor the console.
For the SCUF Infinity Pro, all of the buttons are able to be remapped, except the share button (take screenshot/save clips). Again, by default, this is left as blank so I tried remapping the share button with the actual button, but nothing happens, Apex manager just shows "listening" and no input is detected when pressing the share button. This is inconvenient because if want to take a screenshot, I have to put down my Scuf and grab the 3rd party controller and use the share button on that which does work.
I am sorry for the long post, but I feel like these issues might be common among other people. I paid $125 for this device, with the expectation that I would be getting somewhat of a polished product with minimal issues. However I am forced to come up with my own solutions that are time consuming and inconvenient.
