Xbox Series X Controller vs Xbox One Controller for XIM Apex and XIM 4

I am planning to buy Xbox Series X if I manage to get it. I know that you won't be able to tell whether it will work with XIM Apex and/or XIM 4 for sure at this time. I have XIM 4 and it uses Micro USB, the new Xbox Series X controller will have USB-C. I wonder if I should buy an older (2018) version of the Xbox One controller to ensure better chance of compatibility with XIM 4. It is on sale now on Amazon for $50, that is why I am asking now. Thank you very much.

With the launch being so close I recommend holding off until more is known. Also, I would take the chance to have an XS controller over an X1 controller, assuming that compatibility isn't an issue. X1 controllers seem to be prone to failing USB ports from wear. The XS controller's USB C port should prevent wear issues.

Don't think the new controller is going to work on the Xim 4 when the Elite 2 doesn't. They stopped adding new compatible devices a while ago.

Thank you. I am going to wait and see. Originally, I was going to get a PS 5 but after built-in mic in the controller, draconian changes to Terms of Service (selling your info to 3rd parties more aggressively)  and being able to report the last 40 sec of conversations is an ever expanding data collection. I have my smartphone as 1 spy device, I do not need another one. Not to mention that Sony has been hacked before multiple times and now they will have much more data to share. I have been with Sony since 1996 and I wont be buying a PS 5 for this reason.
