Ps5 & xim apex compatibility

XIM APEX will identify itself as the genuine Sony or MS controller attached to it, so the Scuf Impact not working doesn't really apply (it'll flag itself as a DS4).

Best case scenario - we connect a DualSense to APEX and it's up and running, with a little jiggery-pokery in the APEX FW to pass through the controller identity correctly.

The worst case is it doesn't work at all due to protocol changes between the DualSense and PS5 console, but the DS4 working in limited capacity implies that's an unlikely outcome.

Microsoft have said that all Xbox One accessories will work, So that is looking good so far.

Good news I guess for Xbox according to steelseries the Arctis 9x which uses the Xbox wireless protocol and identifies as a controller will need no firmware update at all it will just sink up as it does to the Xbox one/x. So one would assume the controller will read and Authenticate the exact same. So odds of series x/s working with xim without an update look pretty good.

Considering they don't know for certain if it will even work next gen yet I'd wait before getting super excited.

I'm going to take a wild guess that the protocol won't change much. I mean it was technically possible to use a DS4 on a PS3 after an update, so they seem invested in the IP.

Nevermind all the games that have invested parties in the ds4 controller architecture. I'm wondering if some of the fighting game producers will support the older controllers in their next gen games.

Going to be tough to get a bunch of those people spending a ton on a new fight stick/fight pads. This isn't a huge segment of the population, but they are console buyers themselves.

There's also a handful of PC games that support DS3/DS4 out of the box, Rocket League comes to mind.

PS5 games will require a DualSense controller. IMHO this is due to Sony ending a licensing agreement for rumble and replacing it with their own haptic tech. This would explain why only PS4 games on PS5 will work with a DS4.

Hopefully XIM APEX just needs to add DualSense compatibility, but it may be more complex than that.

I'll be more than happy to try the XIM with the series x I have XIM apex and secured a series x console. Excited to see how it goes.

So far it really seems to be a mistery. However i heard xim has no plans of releasing a xim 5. So in case it has no compatibility there is not so much hope we get a new device.
