(Xbox and Ps4) Linear ramp 0 aim ease in config
« on: 04:46 PM - 06/27/20 »
Intro

So guys, after logically thinking about how my xim curves work, i realized that using exponential ramp wont add any better micro movements because you are still jumping from 0% movement to 2%, then to 4% and so on so all expo does is makes it harder to track up close. The reason people thought exponential ramp was good is because a mix of the "placebo effect" and the fact that i used much more data to create the translation... However, this linear curve is actually a strait line so it is a very accurate 1:1 translation, and since it is a strait line that also means u can use other curves on top of this one!

Ingame settings

100 100 sens
linear ramp
0 aim ease in
0 smoothing
(aim assist is personal so experiment)
100% ashe ads sens (or if not using a aux use 61.4% for 1:1 movement)
66.7% widow/ana ads sens (or if not usint a aux use 45.2% for 1:1 movement)

Xim settings

Generic Alpha Config
17.2 sens
Default sync
0 smoothing
1.44 xy ratio
0 steady aim
4915 boost for xbox, 3327 boost for ps4
0% SAB
1k polling rate

Aux for snipers:

Activated with right click
(delay is optional)
10.32 sens (For perfect 1:1 sens, multiply your xim sens by .614 for ashe and .452 for widow/ana if using separate auxes, as well as 100% relative aim sens for each. If using 1 aux for snipers, multiply your sens by .614 and then put your ingame ashe sensitivity to 100% and your widow/ana sens to 73.6%)
0 smoothing
default sync
1.44 xy ratio
boost value of 4915 xbox, boost value of 3327 for ps4

Mouse settings

12k dpi
1k polling rate

Curve

Copy and paste this curve into the editor, and on any auxes you have for xbox:

<<< XIM APEX END COPY <<<

Copy and paste this curve for ps4 (thanks to jeff87356 for making it and finding the ps4 data):

>>> XIM APEX [Translate Ballistics] START COPY >>>

<<< XIM APEX END COPY <<<

How to use another curve with this config

So to use another curve, you will need to do some math. What you are going to do is paste the curve you want into a ballistic editor and copy all the data points down on a piece of paper in order from left to right. Now, multiply every single one of these points by (0.85 for xbox, and .90 for ps4) to get the new value you are going to enter into your xim ballistic curve. (for example, if my first point is 0 and my 2nd point is 3 in the curve i want to update, i will do the equation "3*.85" which equals 2.55, so now in the xim editor, my starting value will be 0, and my next curve value will be 2.55.).Repeat this process until you translate the whole curve into your xim editor, this will now look like a flattened curve, and will work the exact same was as if u used an official config :)

Maybe I'm just placebo-ed, like you mentioned, but I don't have the same positive response immediatly to this one like I did the previous. If you're still using community feedback as one of your measurements.

It feels a little floaty? I'm not sure. I only played one game with it before bed, maybe it needs more time to be comfortable. Maybe the exponential curve just interacted with the aim assist in a way that worked well for me personally, or maybe the use of boost causes a floaty interaction with the aim assist? I'm not sure.

But if you say it's better, I'll stick with it for a while. I'm a believer in your curves over the original STs

Well if expo works better for u, then use expo haha. My other configs arent bad compared to this config, this config just has closer to real 1:1 movement than the others. But, you dont always need 1:1 movement and whats more important is u being comfortable with it. My configs are just meant to be a 1:1 experience with no bias on how it interacts with aim assist haha :) Also, u could try deleting the curve and boost value all together and then go to the curve editor and move your starting value to 15 on xbox and 10 on ps4, but im not sure if this will fix the floaty aim ur feeling lol. The only reason i add boost is so people could add a curve they want to use with some math easier lol, but if your not going to do the math theres no reason to have the boost.

Just gave it a lot more practice, and I was wrong, I think I do like this one better. They're both great either way.

I was curious if I could pry your brain for a moment?

I had a theory that since widowmaker and ashe have a different FOV, and enemies are made larger on their screen when they zoom in, maybe it would feel better to reduce the size of the aim assist window in conjunction with the zoom?

So for example, Ashe's zoom sensitivity is 65.8 on PC

Dividing that by the 103 hipfire FOV, we get 65.8103 = 0.638. So I assume that's how much smaller the FOV is in a percentage.

So assuming the console zoom is the same percentage shrink, you would need to multiply your regular aim assist window size by 0.638 to get the right aim assist widow size for widow scope?

So if your aim assist window size is normally 100, on widow it would be about 64.

Does my logic check out here or am I just brewing up crackpot theories on bad logic lol

Yeah, I'm not sure if the game automatically adjusts the aim assist window size to scale or not. I guess I'll see :)

This curve actually reminds me of one i used for xim 4, the drop off at the top end makes it so its impossible to hit the turning speed cap which i feel makes me play more consistently, and the boost ensures the deadzone at the start is eliminated when you use linear ramp without aim ease in.

I use 3200 dpi so i just multiplied your sens by 3.75, it seems to be close to 34cm/360 or so which is what i use on PC. I also usb 80 SAB as i feel that it helps the aim assist feel better, same reason i use 3200 dpi it makes the AA work for you more. Currently using 100 AA and 25 AAW, the other linear curve i was using 50 AAW, but i think for more precise hitscans at medium to longish range lower window is better while higher window is better for close up like tracer as you're more likely to fall out of the window at close range.

Well actually, the drop off at the end in combination with the boost value allows you to still hit 100% turn speed haha :) The reason it does this is because the boost value on xbox is so high that it adds 15% stick tilt value so right when u move the mouse, ur in the deadzone... This means its 15% stick tilt value added on every single point in the curve, so thats why we have to drop the end of the curve to 85% (so 85% plus 15% is 100% stick tilt value). The ps4 is the same way except with 10% boost value and 90% end value haha.... The reason i do this though is to give people the freedom to add custom curves if they want to and still have the curves work how their suppose to (feel the same way they do in other games).

Is this the improved sequel to  (XBOX/PS4) OVERWATCH EXPO RAMP CONFIG REMADE FROM SCRATCH  or an alternative choice ?

Alternative :) All my configs are made the same way, so they should all in theory feel the same, but this isnt always true since i cant do everything with perfect accuracy so its up to u to choose which u like the best. I personally like this one the best out of all of my configs, but some people still say my "linear w 33aei" or "expo ramp" config is better than this one. They all feel a bit different with aim assist so choose which u like the best and stick with that one, they all are good and better than the standard ST's imo and theres no real "right" choice when picking one, i say just try all of them and see which u like the best :)

Tried the linear, and while I felt the aiming experience was very smooth and felt quite close to 1:1 when I was actually in-game making precision movements just felt odd, couldn't aim good. More than likely lack of practice, when I tried the exponential ramp it felt different but worse. I feel this odd floating effect when I use it. I've been using Apex on Overwatch since its launch in March 2018, so I think trying to adapt to new config style altogether maybe isn't viable for someone like me. I do respect the hard work you put into the math because I know for a fact a lot of newer people with less experience and time played will make work of your configs because they feel so much better.

Question in general for all your Overwatch configs, with your XIM settings should I be using what you're using for the curve to work properly or can I use another sync? I am an off sync player because I like the snappiness of it, and I also like 3200 DPI more, I tried inputting OFF and 3200DPI but I'm not sure I was getting the aiming experience I was supposed to, because when I was copying your exact settings (DPI, sync, etc) it felt good but I don't enjoy the way Default plays in-game.

PS4 player; so I'm using that curve, not yours.

Shouldnt matter what sync u use because the way the curves are made has nothing to do with the xim settings, but adding boost on any curve besides this config will make your movements no longer 1:1, so i wouldnt change that. SAB can be used on any config, and so can steady aim. You can also use mouse smoothing and sensitivity/dpi/polling rate u want im pretty sure :) The only thing u cannot change on my configs is the ingame aim type and aim ease in value used. Although i have not tested dpi change, polling rate change, sensitivity or mouse smoothing change, steady aim, or sab values i dont see how these could change anything about the config. All of those should avt how they normally do haha
