Just to clear up things, if you set your XIM to 250hz and your mouse to 250hz then this will feel the same as using 250hz for the XIM and 1000hz for the mouse. The only real scenario in which it wouldnt feel the same is if your mouse cannot poll consistently at 250hz and drops signals. But that should normally not happen with any modern gaming mouse.

Also smoothing doesnt create acceleration, it just reduces mouse stutter (among a few other things) :).

My mouse is set at 1000hz i dont have a laptop right now to change to 250 can i still run this setup with mouse 1000 and xim 250 ?

Yeah you can do mate, as long as your mouse polling rate is higher than the Xim then you're all good.

Interesting,  if the xim is polling 250hz 4ms and your mouse is polling 1000hz 1 ms how is the same? 🤔

Does the XIM polling rate overide the mouse polling rate?

In my (admittedly limited) understanding, it's just that the mouse sends the movement data to the Xim at 1ms but the Xim rate is capped at 4ms so can't translate it any faster than that. So 250-250 will feel the same as 250-1000. Sort of like having a USB2 port, using a USB3 device on it won't be any faster than using a USB2 device because the speed is limited by the port itself.

Yes I understand the logic.

In the end we all have different setups and play styles. To some the settings will work and to some may not.

I love these settings, just have to adjust and tweak the settings to how I like it!

Great Work Nonetheless! 🍻

Thank you for confirming.

Yeah, in my previous post it was more referring to those other things that made it feel horrid with a lot of smoothing. The movements on 250hz are already smooth and stacking much more on top just makes your mouse movements feel inaccurate and very spongy, almost like there's a delay.

You have sync off on both and 4K dpi on mouse with 250hz on XIM and poling?

In game settings need to be set to insane also. If your comparing it to Apex Legends then yes itís slower but this config that disable makes is always spot on. The hip should feel fast and when you ADS you get good accurate shots. Most of this game is ADS.

Yes i agree with you, smoothing shouldnt be needed with 250hz. Though it can help to boost the aim assist which probably was the intention here :).

Makes Sense. Now if the XIM is capped at 4ms 250hz, what happens when the XIM polling is changed to 500 or above? Or whatís the use in using anything above 250hz

I apologize if I mislead anyone on how it felt....I need to participate more often and only been a member since 2015 😬

If a modern day mouse advertises Zero Smoothing or Zero acceleration etc. does this impact how the mouse reacts by changing values in ST specifically on Smoothing?

Your XIM isnt capped at 250hz, you can use up to 1000hz. A higher polling rate means less delay between your physical movement and its result on the screen.
Mouse smoothing and acceleration is added on top of whatever XIM settings you are using, so yes it could feel different.

I thought so...heard someone mention this. Could of misunderstood what it was implying. Yes I normally run 1000hz 1ms on both XIM and Mouse.
Thanks Odin.

I like my hands closer together, always played with arrows on quake and UT back in the day on PC so used to aiming in a closed hand stance.
