This Post will answer all your questions about DeadZone!

Dead zone is the area of thumb stick movement that doesn't register as movement to the game.
So, if you move the thumb stick a really tiny bit, nothing will happen onscreen.
Just resting your thumb on it, you feel like you are keeping it still, but, it's actually moving.
The game throws away these little movements.
The amount the game throws away is the "dead zone value".

For Example, in the image, the red circle represents what the game does not pick up when you move the stick.

Yes, deadzone is my arch enemy. I got it on Halo 3 where it's non existent using a value of around 33 to 37 which feels nice n spicy.

The deadzone is important to set correctly otherwise you'll feel like a jerk - ha ha. That is jerky motion. SO DON'T BE A JERK GET YOUR DEADZONE SET PROPER.
