I just got the XIM "tool stick package".  And Im in Korea so I dont have the PS2 ext cable yet.. So I got into a hurry and decided to "flash" the XIM without the PS2 wire connected. "just bare XIM board's"

When I first connected the XIM the Flash program said it needed to update the Card.. so I did.  Then I flashed everthing just fine.

Afterwards, I started the XIM program and it hung.. "tried many times and got the program to display but windows wouldnt accept any inputs from mouse..  ::) " Had to CTRL ALT DEL and start taskman to end process" so Im guessing its looking for the XFPS.

Im just curious but it would seem as if the XIM program would "talk" on the Card and then the card "talks" to the XFPS.

Im just making sure I dont have a bad XIM board.

Thanks!

BTW I may be your first to try.. BUT HEY THATS what Im about :)

With what I have seen you want to have every thing plugged in before starting xim, I usually make sure every thing is plugged in, turn on my xbox, then I fire up xim, I also noticed this on XAE-ME, if the tool stick by it's self is plugged in the program won't even start, and same in reverse if you shut every thing down and then try to close the program last it dosent respond too well, not a big deal just have to follow the logical order of things. Right?

you will have issues without having everything connected, I know I did. Best order that ps2 cable or old controller and get it hooked up correctly and then come back to us if you have problems then. :)

You can tweak with it a bit but it will hang up sometimes, mine did too. Once I got it soldered and all hooked up it has been running like a champion since!!!!

Thanks guys! "wow a forum where I dont get the "flames" from the random @$$!

I have solderd the PS2 cable and now Im waiting for the XFPS sniper :)

"wish I could have gotten a cheap XFPS .. Couldnt find one"

Just wanted to make sure the XIM Toolstick was working correctly.

A few things did not go as published.

From the Installation Walk-Through!

"After you install the tool (assuming you installed to the default location), follow these steps:

1) Plug your ToolStick into your PC’s USB port
2) Go to: C:\SiLabs\MCU\Utilities\FLASH Programming\Static Programmers\Windows Console
3) Run: FlashUtil.exe
4) Under the Connect/Disconnect tab:
    a) Make sure the Debug Interface is set to C2
    b) Make sure the Debug Adapter says it is USB Debug Adapter and the Adapter Selection has a serial number in it
    c) Click the Connect button (you should see a yellow and red LED light up on your ToolStick base adapter)
5) Go to the Download Hex File/Go/Stop tab:
    a) Under Download filename, click Browse and select XIMfirmware330.hex from where you extracted your XIM package
    b) Click the Download button
6) Go back to the Connect/Disconnect tab:
    a) Click the Disconnect button (you should the yellow and red LED lights turn off)
7) Close the Flash Utility
8) Unplug the ToolStick and plug it back in

XIM Hardware is Ready"

In step 6, it states the lights should turn off.. well mine never did.

Also I couldnt find anywhere stating that the Usb Toolstick may need to be updated by the Flashware.

After connecting to the XFPS I hope everything will go as puplished!

BTW.. There needs to be a FAQ section... Yea I know coverd before but It will hopefully stop peps like me asking questions that could be in the FAQ, because Im sure this will be asked again  :o

Thanks, Again..

Months old so likely resolved.

I'm closing this post and if anyone still needs some help they can start a new more current post.
