[ACTIVE] Adding Power to Hub
« on: 12:06 PM - 09/14/19 »
Hello, is there any tutorial on how to properly use the 5v power cord on the Xim Apex hub without damaging or over frying anything. I know is common sense but I want to be as careful as possible. I ordered a brand new xim and I donít want this one to break again.

Are you sure you are going to need an external power source? Can you tell us about the type of peripherals you will be using?

I am using the keyboard Corsair Strafe MK.2 and then the mouse Corsair Glaive RGB Pro. I saw underneath the mouse and keyboard that both use 5v.
I just need to know when to plug it in and should I unplug it when Iím done using the keyboard etc.

Questions I would liked to be answered are...
ē Leaving the 5V power cable plug into the hub all night
ē Plugging in the 5V power cable first or the m&k first
ē Should I leave my xim apex plugged in all night

I wouldn't use an external power supply -- I'd try without it first.

So I tried without the 5v power cable and now my xim doesnít want to identifier my controller, keyboard, and mouse. Iím scared to try again.

If youíre really worried about it, buy a powered USB hub to replace XIMís hub.

I personally use a power plug on the USB hub, another powering the Titan Two and two more 5V USB cables to wall adapters in my setup with zero issues and have done so for years.

Just be sure to use exact specs and buy from a local supplier so it meets all government standards. Buying from eBay and Amazon is cheaper, but itís a roll of the dice. Better to spend a bit more to make sure your gear doesnít melt.

I do have one already from the one moderators recommended. Itís from amazon and it cost me around 10 bucks. All I want is to know how to use it. Like a tutorial video maybe. But for now is there instructions on when to plug it in, is it able to stay plugged in all night long, or like when to plug in the peripherals.

Can you try just the controller plugged into your hub (no power cable or mouse or keyboard) and plug that into your XIM. Is your controller detected?

So what I learned is that the Corsair Glaive RGB Pro mouse makes my xim disconnect. Everything works fine until I plug in the mouse.

If you just plug in the mouse is it detected correctly?
