XIM3 Logo Package
« on: 09:49 PM - 01/11/11 »
This is really a support offer, rather than a request. I'm a professional web designer, developer, and graphic designer, so I just so happen to do this for a living.

I've read in a couple of "Montage" threads that users have asked for the XIM3 Logo in a vector format, but OBsIV only has it available in a certain filetype. I wouldn't mind having a clean vector version of the logo for myself for a couple of projects I might do in the future.

My offering, would be if the OBsIV can supply that vector format (assuming I can open it in Illustrator), I will convert and make the files available to the public in various other formats. I'd export the most popular vectors formats such as AI, EPS, SVG, and PDF. Also, I could do some high quality raster images in PNG and JPG formats if there is a demand.

Thank you for your offer to help. I've had this request for a logo in vector format before -- finally getting around to it!

Here they are (PSD).

NOTE: This is actually a 7z file, but, I couldn't upload with that extension. Please rename.

Thanks! I'll get around converting it, and I'll upload a packaged zip with the multiple formats in it sometime tomorrow.

You can attach files under the reply message box. Click  Attachments and other options. However your files are too large to be attached.

Quick update: I'm 85% complete with the conversion. The logo was actually harder to recreate then I anticipated with some of the smaller details. I've had to go in and hand redraw everything, including the typography, since the original supplied artwork was in low resolution raster form. Once it's done, it will be much better than if I had auto-traced it or something similar, which actually worked poorly due to it being 96ppi.

*drumroll*

As promised, here is final outcome (see attached). Everything is true vector, including the gradients and "strokes". I had to hand trace everything due to the original artwork, but everything came out perfect.

I've exported them into the most popular vector formats with the highest quality settings: .AI, .EPS, .SVG, and .PDF. I didn't do any raster exports, but I can if there is a demand for it.

sorry if this is a tad off subject, but it would be sweet to have a xim3 favicon in my bookmark toolbar instead of the stock white page icon...jus sayin  :D

Thanks everyone. I'll whip up a XIM3 Favicon right now that OMGsus can implement if he so wishes to.

XIM3 Favicon bundle:

I've created a mutli-resolution favicon bundle, that varies in size from the typical 16x16 to 128x128 for higher resolution uses. Each separate size is located in a sub folder in case the bundle doesn't work properly with the current hosting setup.

The typical 16x16 favicon was adjusted from the regular XIM3 symbol for various reasons. One being that since the image dimensions are even, circles will appear uneven vertically or horizontally, which is very apparent at smaller sizes. The second was at 16x16, the typography (the 'x') in the standard symbol became illegible. The revised favicon remedies those issues, and still kept with the XIM3 brand identity.

See attached for the favicon bundle, and seperate .icos.

Edit: Now accepting hypothetical karma.
