Welcome to the community. Is the console communication method set to USB instead of bluetooth? This is required if the controller supports it.

Settings > Devices > Controllers > Communication Method

Aside from this, I recommend testing other data cables with the controller. Replacing the cable usually solves this issue.

I use a V1 Controller so it doesn't support it, and I have tried 5 different cables with the controller, all leading to the same result

In some cases if it's not the cable it can be the controller but we should rule out other variables first.

Could you please share your setup so we can learn more about the issue? Please include both the brand and model.

mouse:
keyboard:
extras: extended usb cables, third party usb hub, usb switch, titan or cronus device?

Thank you. Is it happening ever 3 minutes consistently? If so try starting APEX with only the controller attached leaving port 1 and 2 empty. Does it APEX flash purple if left to idle like this?

Great, do you see purple lights with the controller and mouse only? Or controller and keyboard? We're hoping to see if a specific device is causing this or if it's a power issue.

my controller isn't fully charged when I use it, is that causing the problem because of it taking power?

Yes, the controller should be fully charged. The issue could be related to the keyboard or the power draw of your setup. The only way to know is to either use another keyboard of the same model or add additional power to your setup. If you would like to try adding a power adapter to your setup APEX supports power adapters using the spec below and can be found on amazon or ebay. To prevent damage to your peripherals do not use a power adapter that doesn't match this spec and do not use a power adapter with an adjustable voltage switch.

5V 3A power adapter  ([3.5mm x 1.35mm], center-positive)
