Hi and welcome to the forums.

Have you watched the Instructional Videos at https://xim.tech/instructional-videos/ ? At a bare minimum, view the Quick Start Guide, it may answer your questions.

There are many reasons why your XIM may not be working.

The first thing to do is ensure you are using a genuine Xbox One controller and that the USB cable from your controller to XIM Apex is functional. If it's a Charge-and-Play cable, it won't work because the cable has no data lines. Please try a different USB cable.

It's also a good idea to remove the XB1 controller battery to reduce the risk of power drain, which can cause XIM disconnects.

Another quick thing you can try is power-cycling your console. Follow the "Disconnect and reconnect.." instructions at https://support.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-one/console/power-cycle-console.

There are other possible causes and XIM staff will help you to troubleshoot your setup, but this should be enough to get you started.

Yes, the controller should be attached to APEX's hub. Be sure to use the preferred port order as well. The preferred port order is below. The port number can be identified by the number of dots above the port.

port 1: mouse
port 2: keyboard
port 3: controller

If this isn't helping then the most common cause for this type of issue is a bad cable, if you have spares I recommend testing them with the controller next.

You may have the startup config color set to green, change this to red on your configs identity page to make troubleshooting easier.

Have you tried other data cables with the controller as well?

In the meantime, let's try a console hard reset, this fixes a console wired controller recognition bug. Press and hold the power button on the front of the console for 15 seconds. Once off unplug the power cable to the console for 60 seconds. Reconnect the power cable and power on the console. Attach all peripherals to XIM then connect XIM to the console.

Note that removing the power cable while off has been reported as necessary by some users.
