Apex Legends ultimate ability
« on: 03:42 PM - 07/09/19 »
Hey everyone, First I just want to say thanks to the community as a whole, from the forums to the YouTubers. Secondly to my main point here is why can I not get the ultimate ability to work??? I have owned the xim for about 6 months now and I have just gave up in apex Legends trying to get my ultimate ability to work. No matter how I set up with 2 buttons or trying to get it to work with one button in the secondary option it just hates me. I even went out and bought a Razer Cynosa Chroma to see if my cheap keyboard just wasn't able to handle two buttons pressed at once. If I'm an idiot the so be it but with season 2 here now I just want to get my ultimate ability to work. Please help?

I have mine set up for ping to be mouse-forward and tactical ability to mouse-backward

I then set a secondary assignment for ping to be on the middle scroll wheel button so that I only use the side buttons on the mouse for tactical and ultimate.

If the ultimate is L1+R1, it's very easy to do on a XIM Apex.

Ensure Expert mode is enabled in XIM Manager > Global Settings.
Edit your gaming config, swipe from right to left to show the HIP page, then scroll down to the bottom of Actions.
Click the ellipsis (...) and you'll see the word Primary.
Click the arrow to the right and you'll reveal the Secondary bindings page.
Assign both L1 and R1 to the same key or mouse button in Secondary, e.g V.
Pressing V will now activate L1+R1 for the ultimate.

I had a hard time with this, I was trying to bind both to mouse forward and it wouldn't work in game. I don't remember where I read but I remember reading something saying that some actions in Apex Legends are based off ButtonRelease rather than ButtonPress, so it may have been a timing thing related to that. Either way, the issue was instead of activating the ultimate, it only activated the tactical ability, got me killed a few times lol!

I'll give it a shot again though, something could have changed, or I may have messed something up. I'll report back!

- Side note: if this does work now, or it was my config that was messed up, you still have to keep in mind that if your ultimate is not ready and you press your ultimate button, you will use your tactical ability

I have tried through secondary and I have tried setting it both ways on the mouse and keyboard. It still will not work. Doesn't matter if try with one button or two buttons. I know this sounds stupid, but I literally have tried so many different ways it won't work. All it does is just drop the extra ability not the ultimate ability. I give up lol ughhhhh

I'm using two buttons which is cool shift and x works great now thanks again. I can't get it to work with just one button press but I won't sweat over it for now. I'm just happy I can finally use my ultimate ability.

Good work. If you now go into Secondary key bindings and bind both <Shift> and <X> to middle mouse/mouse 3, pressing down on your scroll wheel will activate your Ult.
