Can I use a chromebook to update?
« on: 08:03 PM - 07/02/19 »
Sorry if this is a silly question, but I've not updated in a while due to having to borrow a family members PC 2 towns away to update.
I just realized my daughter has a chromebook but it's not seeming as point and click as the actual PC.
It won't let me DL the PC version of firmware tool due to "PC not using windows software" It runs Chrome OS which is different!.?
It does download the Mac version of of it but not sure if or how to "run" it and transfer date to xim?

Any help would be appreciated and I'm guessing I'm out of luck for the moment for getting new firmware.  :-\

Sorry but I don't believe ChromeOS can run Windows and/or MacOS apps (either natively or in emulation).

Well getting a "No" answer from you sir seems like all hopes are for sure lost. Been looking for a work around now for about an hour but not too tech savvy on what I'd be looking for (emulation), cause it's definitely not doing it natively.

It definitely doesn't even let me DL the PC firmware tool, but did the Mac firmware tool so I was holding on to some hope.
Well guess I'm back to borrowing a actually PC every once in a while just for updates.  :)
Lastly, will my Xim be unchanged? Just plugged it into USB Port while blue but had nothing come up to change?
I also want to thank you all for this wonderful product, and everything you guys do to keep it amazing even at the drop of a dime when things are needed!
Best customer service ever out of any company and that is no lie!

Yes I think you are asking if plugging your XIM into a Chrome Book could have had any affect (possibly negative) on it? If so, then don't worry, nothing would have changed on it.

Yep, that was the question.
My luck usually would have been it restores back to factory settings for it and manager (st's gone too)  lol.
Thanks again for all the help now and always.
