Thank you for creating this post to share helpful information.

I'm using the HyperX Cloud Alpha headset on PC and I have the HyperX Cloud II USB sound card and MixAmp Pro TR Gen 3 but was wondering which setup will give me better sound in hearing footsteps, the HyperX USB sound card or the MixAmp Pro with Potara Ultimate EQ?
At the end it comes to your hearing capacity. Some people hear better treble and midtones (where footsteps are) other people needs tweaking or amplifying those, (just like an eye prescription) to hear them better.

Both devices has little to no-amplification, so the only thing we can focus on is in how well they represent or decode sound. For hearing footsteps or any competitive scenario Stereo is the way to go, as has been mentioned on this thread several times.

Dolby or any Surround mix adds reverb, that make sounds coming from the walls, which is great for Campaign or Solo games, but for competitive hurts because you can't hear where the sound cues actually are.

My recommendation is try both on Stereo only. Test using this video as reference, and then in your game, setting the in-game Stereo Mix.

From the get go, I think MixAmp is superior, go ahead and try the EQ presets from Emperor Potara for your Headset on Stereo only.  :)

Hi

I am a headphone user of A50 from China. Thank you very much for sharing the adjustment method of headphone equalizer of COD16. Look forward to your updates later. There are a lot of Chinese friends using the headphone equalizer you set up.

Best regards
Thanks to you :D

But, I'm only the messenger, Emperor Potara (Discord: https://discord.gg/nWhKGfG) is the mind behind the magnificent work on tuning EQ's for MixAmp, please step by and invite him a coffee.  ;)

You can find his latest updates there.

Greetings from Mexico, and stay safe and healthy!

Cancel this, read the entire thread and have decided I'll return them and go for SBXG6 and GSP 600 for Xbox one X, this sounds good I take it? Also I can't seem to find any guide on how I'd set it up for the mic to work also, does it just plug into the g6 and that's it, or do I need a splitter to controller?
Cheers guys

Yes, amplification will help you to have a better sound delivery, not tinny.

Sennheiser GSP 600 has a very unique driver, even though it doesn't seems to need amp (28 Ohms), it sounds tiny from a non-amp source. Once you connected on an amp they sound WAY BETTER like a different pair of headset, imaging, sound separation even sound-stage is improved.

I don't own a XB1, but on my SBXG6 manual mention mic support, but limited chat mix.

Ah ok, I think I'll hold off then. I'm really stuck for what to do to be honest. Seems all the good stuff doesn't work with Xbox.

Anyone know if there is a EQ preset for the SteelSeries Arctis 5 with the TR mixamp or even recommend one that works really well with it?

Check Emperor Potara Discord, or ask for it.

I found some EQ's that I had downloaded a while back when this thread was made. Using them at the moment and so far I'm happy with them

I ended up searching for specific EQ's for the arctis 5 on Potara's discord and didn't find one but I did find one for the Arctis Pro which I figured couldn't be much different in sound. I am highly pleased with what he had it sounds so much better then any of the other EQ's I previously had downloaded.

I check the specs, they are really different drivers (headphones speakers).

For better results you can ask him to make the EQ specifically for Arctic 5, he will need Arctic 5 Frequency Response Graph: https://www.rtings.com/headphones/1-4/graph#815/3992

Honestly, my suggestion is if you can get SHP9500 these without breaking the bank will suit your needs. Potara has a EQ for those too.

Alright, I didn't know there would be a difference. I'm kind of an audio noob when it comes to stuff like this lul.

Honestly right now I'm not in the market for a new headset. I have spent probably close to if not over $600 on different headsets in the past 4 years. And one of my main reasons for actually getting SteelSeries headset is because my A40's were actually so heavy it was leaving a dent in my head and I like that the Arctis line has an elastic band instead of the traditional headband that most headsets have

That's the problem right there, are you getting headsets not quality headphones. Is a huge difference between the SHP9500 and the Arctis or any SteelSeries line, besides Philips are way more comfortable but... have your way. Anyway seems SHP9500 are again sold out.

I like Potora's Game sense without dolby surround, game set to stereo those are definitely the best when asking for accurate enemy positioning.

Now for the HE-4XX owners or any one else who use Planars, I just find out Audio Technica release its own version of the ModMic,
The Audio-Technica ATGM2 Detachable Boom Mic

which doesn't use a magnet and you can use it safely with your planars ;D

It has a more bass in voice than the ModMic, if you prefer that tone. :)

I'm using a modified version of tournament II on my DT 990 Pro's, they're very treble-heavy so I took some of that off. No more sharpness, just nice and crisp and they work great on BO4 for footstep audio.

Wow... DT990 Pro is already a very bright (high trebble) headphone and on top you put it more, man you are going to get deaf at my age hehe.

I prefer the Headphone driver made all the EQ, the DAC on the Arc makes it so precise airy and open. I switch back to MixAmp due the Chat mix I was in a -very noisy party chat-, and no matter the EQ I can feel the lack of clarity detail and compression in the sound. I got spoiled.  :(

Got spoiled too. Been loving my hd800. Wanted to try my k701 and hd700 again just to mix things up. Man it is hard to go back. Upgrades seem subtle but downgrades are way more noticeable it seems. Still waiting on the d70 dac. Been using the arc with thx 789 for a few days and to me it feels smoother and more subtle as compared to the arc alone. Will try to do some comparisons later on. Love this new hobby, thanks again Alan
