I have the astro a40 RT mixamp
If i get the Sennheiser GSP 600 will it work well with the amp?
Worth it over the standard astro a40 headset do u think?
Cheers
YES is a huge leap over the A40s, GSP 600 are 28 Ω so works properly for the MixAmp.
I have a HD600 used for listen music and movies only. Keep in mind those
requires an
true amplifier because, like any high-end headphones, are high impedance. Worth mention/clarify:
MixAmp is not an amplifier only a very darn good mixer/equalizer, in order to use studio or high-end headphones an amplifier is required (above $200 for a quality one)
I tried my HD600 with an Mayflower arc amp on my PS4 Pro. I have to admit, yes it sounds very rich, natural and beautiful but... there is no an efficient soundstage optimized for gaming. I mean there's no an adequate sound positional precision.
e.g. I can hear footsteps, the best clear footsteps ever... but I couldn't distinguish/locate where they are at or come from?!: above, behind or next to me.
Contrary to the A40 + TR MixAmp where I can hear clearly footsteps with very decent sound quality (above average).
Now, with the GSP 600 + MixAmp I have a very precise soundstage for gaming, allows me to locate it sources, with a very similar sound quality of a high end headsets plus a broadcast quality mic, and no amplifier required.
One of my test runs: Battlefront (game that I know very well) I play vs AI bots (Skirmish) eyes closed... and I can hear where the enemies came from (in that game, besides shooting, of foosteps, they scream before engage), like: OK this guy is top left a bit far away.... open my eyes and there it is!. What blow my mind was on a hangar, with corridor tunnels. I was in the hangar and hear an echo coming from the corridor, I went over there and hear more noise, two bots were stuck there. DICE they are genius on sound.
Anyways.
The prodigy, don't forget to get an amp first, if you go for a HD600 (300 Ω)
Granted, I sound like a sound enthusiast, and I kind of turn into one but is not like that... I lost right ear hearing due a medicament, so I'm impared dealing with this stuff; that's why I quite exigent with sound quality to compensate not luxury, on simpler words: I need to "hear more" without increasing the volume too much, and that performance you only get from top sound devices.
