Nice those are the summit1g cans  :)  where did you snipe them at 40% discount?
I've actually had these on my list for quite a while.. Can you try them without a mixamp and let me know how they perform?  I feel like the mixamp actually limits the insane soundstage on those really wide frequency headphones, it just wasn't made for them since it supports only 20-20,000 Hz.
Not sure though maybe it's also the EQ's not being build for the sennheisers I used but they just sounded better without mixamp for me.
Yeah it was a lucky shoot, on the 16th to 17th appear on my list (Amazon Mexico) from $286 to $199 usd, (17th) pull the trigger and refresh it went back at $286. It might be Prime day or something.

BTW Those impressions above were without MixAmp, just raw input from my PC onboard DAC without any EQ. Once I get back home I going to try it with it.

Update. Are back at $199 usd! ($3890 pesos mxn), so if there is a countryman reading this: get yours is a steal!  8), we pay $300 usd ($ 5600) for Astros, HyperX or Razers, which are not remotely close to the audio quality of this cans.

I had AD700X for two years, these doesn't sound quite like that when listen music.

ADG1x has a notch more present bass and treble is sharper without being annoying, I remember the AD700X having no bass at all or bland and bright treble. Mid feel the same though.

On games, I can't really tell because when I had the AD700X I played only PC and haven't MixAmp, beside those were older games.

My nephew has AD500X's, ADG1x definitely sounds better by far.

I also find out that ADG1x are in fact build with AD900X drivers (same specs), make sense.

Is not all sugar, the cable is awful stiff and too short, the volume control is cheap and unprecise. Cans are comfortable, and very lightweight, however (this is only me) I have a werewolf ears or vulcan? very long and pointy and attached earlobe, so the ear-cups sits a bit over my ear and I got annoyed by it after a couple of hours, no clamping force like the GSP 600 but on those my ears fit better.

In case you are curious about Audio Technica ATH-ADG1X vs Sennheiser GSP 600

The short version is: Both are next level compare to A40s.
A visual analogy will be upgrading from 360p to a 1080p resolution.

Open back vs closed back design, so the sound experience is different by definition, is pears vs apples.

Comfort
ADG1X takes the crown, very lightweight are floating in your head. GSP 600 are heavier and clamps into your head (to isolate you), is not a too strong clamping force, and the earcups material is very comfortable but still gets tire after a while.

General Sounding
ADG1X are definitely more neutral and natural sounding, it feels more like a monitor headphone, like having a speakers floating on your ears, while can still hear your voice and be aware of your surroundings.

GSP 600 are completely gaming design, bass is rich and present, middles are highlighted and maybe too crisp treble, in general is a more "fun" seasoned isolated sound stage.

Mic Performance
Both are perfect for streaming, GSP 600 are sharp, and ADG1X a bit bummy, yet clear. This test was using either mic input to a PC or a Sennheiser USB sound card to PS4, with MixAmp everything gets weaken due the noise gate. If you have mic issues (doesn't sound properly) I recommend: Home preset, no side tone to get the most of your mic. On the GSP 600 however the side tone is necessary so you can hear your voice, but no go further than 70%.

Gaming
First of all both can give you and advantage regardless; hearing footsteps and sound separation(sound imaging), and positioning are outstanding.

ADG1X on stereo (no mixamp) sounds more wide sound stage, it feels very natural due the open back, you can estimate enemy foosteps proximity easier (how far is this guy from me), but the explosions are numb less vivid (lack of bass)

GSP 600 on stereo (no mixamp) it quite amazing how they tune the drivers, even though is closed back and is very isolated experience, you don't feel the sound booming in your head is a bit expanded but yet closed. Positioning is better, due a very sharp stereo separation but you can't estimate the footsteps proximity like on the other headset. Treble is harsh sometimes.

Coupled with Astro MixAmp
ADG1X can gain a nice bass and mid tones sounds richer. The sound stage is wider, if you were there out of the open. footsteps (mid and high treble) suffers a bit, don't get me wrong are noticeable and very positional, yet subtle and it feels more natural and is less tiresome.

GSP 600 gets a very large sound stage, sound doesn't feel in your head anymore is coming from the walls. footsteps pops up very clear, like a radar, for competitive scenarios I will say these headsets definitely give you and advantage like a spider sense; but after a while this feel like too much input and gets tired at least for me.

CONCLUSION
At the end It comes more to personal preference, and your scenario.
If you are in a noisy environment, play competitive: GSP 600 with MixAmp is spider-sense, hands down. For music are great for hip-hop, rock and vocals are very in-front. Action movies sounds great on these.

If you are more in casual gaming and campaign stuff like red dead redemption 2, the witcher, you want more natural ambient noise, go ADG1X with MixAmp it will be fantastic immersive experience. But if you want to go FPS competitive I highly recommend to try without dolby surround and a juiced bass EQ preset, due its open-back design you don't need artificial widen sound-stage. On stereo sound whoring(footsteps) is greatly improved. Classical music sounds great on these, vocals are a bit back next to the instruments yet present. Horror, suspense movies shines on these cans.

So yeah, lol I though on make a small post sorry but I hope is useful. Also, some audiophile terms are unavoidable, next I will make a small reference what these terms means to our gaming needs. :)

Some Audiophile terminology translated for Gamers:
Bass = punch, rumble, explosions.
Mid or Midtones = gunshots, footsteps, in-game callouts.
Treble = Adds sparkle, some footsteps, reload sounds, some ambiance like rain.
Neutral or Monitor Headphone. Means flat none of the tones above are predominant, is how the game designers wants you to hear the game, no equalization.
Sound Stage. How you perceive your surroundings, the space and environment of sound, spatial cues.
Sound Separation and imaging. Is the audio distinction between sounds heard through your headphones, results from the placement of sound sources and cues at different points relative to your position. e.g. "I hear an explosion at my right is far away, but someone is coming from my left... -and be able to distinct if is a teammate or enemy-"

after reading this topic I decided to upgrade my Turtle Beach p12 to a GSP 600 with mixamp. What a difference! I always thought my hearing must be getting bad and it made me feel even older...
First time I heard footsteps in Apex Legends with this new setup I was looking around with my shotgun out since that was the range I heard footsteps before. Turned out they were still 2 buildings away. After getting used to this new feeling I can pinpoint enemies a lot better.

Really happy with this thread and the upgrade. Thanks guys!

First off, I appreciate the confidence that you have in me, on this subject.

I got many messages asking for consulting on audio gaming: which headset to buy?, best bang perbuck, best performance overall, etc.

Is a huge topic (can get controversial)... I going to addressed on other thread, I hope find it helpful if you are interested on upgrading your audio gaming experience from a headset from walmart, or a "gaming" one to something that give you a new level that will make your gaming experience substantially better overall.

:)

Well, I have a friend who is a hardcore audiophile, fix me with this one: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tg85etiLhX_xPyTQFpw5TEOru91xWqqS

He made it from the frequency chart The_Prodigy share a few post back.

Works better with Dolby OFF might feel too bright.

Great for footsteps.  8)

This Song sounds amazing with this preset:

Tried on videos testing foosteps sounds for PUBG, BO4, "supercrunch" was pretty nice (I don't play BO4 but I can really tell how everything pop up)

Does anybody on here use the SteelslSeries Arctis 5 with Astro MixAmp? I'm thinking about picking up a pair tomorrow cause my A40s headset is going bad as far mic not working well and I've tried 3 different mics and all the same result.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, SteelslSeries Arctis 5 has its own DAC/EQ right?. If it is, well I doubt you have better performance connecting the headset to mixamp, because SSA5 DAC is specially tuned for the headset.

You can try it though, I think Zalias Guy presets suits most headsets. Daredevils are specially tuned for a specific headphone/headset.

I actually went ahead and got the headset. Believe it or not I actually like the sound straight through my controller instead of using my MixAmp. Now I won't get all the features on Xbox One as I would when using it for PC such as DTS:X or the RGB illumination and the chat mixer that it comes with. Believe it or not I actually much prefer this headset over my A40TR. Not only is the mic clearer for other but I feel the sound is better and less bass sounding so I can hear footsteps and such better. And to me they're more comfortable and have a lighter feeling on my head then the Astros.

Those headsets have a pretty smart design I tried, very comfy, love the mic design. Sound quality is pretty good but still a gaming headset, mids sound very artificial for my liking.

What I'm saying those (2019 version) have its own MixAmp, you don't or shouldn't pair it with MixAmp.
