Keyboard and mouse input not registering
« on: 02:21 AM - 03/26/19 »
Hi, I have a ps4 and an xim and when I play apex legends, it doesn't work. I can detect my keyboard and mouse through the app but when I change keys it gets stuck on "Listening..." and never receives any input. There is no communication method in my settings under devices, but I'm told that's fine. What else can I try. I've heard it can be power issues but when I try to use it with just my mouse (an office mouse that takes almost no power) it still doesn't detect anything...

Have you changed your communication method of your PS4 controller to USB?

If you read above, I already said that that option isn't anywhere.

It's on the PS4. Go to Settings > Devices > Controllers > Communication Method and set to USB.

Which keyboard model are you using?

I know where it's usually located, but as I'll say again.... it's not there. I'm using just a standard logitech keyboard, don't see how its really relevant though, the mouse doesn't work either 😕

It's relevant because not all mice and keyboards support the USB protocols required to connect to a XIM without software drivers, i.e they're PC only. XIM is broadly compatible with most gaming m & kb, but office devices may not be compatible.

Are you connecting the controller, mouse & keyboard to the correct ports on the Apex USB hub? Please refer to the Instructional Videos for more information - https://xim.tech/instructional-videos/

Got it to work by replacing the controller cord. Now any ideas on how I still use my headset and mic through the controller when it's in this "mode"?

Yes you need to ensure you're using a data cable not just a charging cable which may have been the issue. Also, is your PS4 controller a V1 or V2? Voice chat is not compatible through the XIM in a V1 controller.

Glad to read that, faulty or power-only USB cables is the most common issue.

Chat only works via a Pro or Slim DS4. On PS4, you can use a USB soundcard on a separate USB port as a simple workaround.
