TV Questions
« on: 12:45 PM - 11/13/18 »
Hey everyone, I don't know much about TV's - I'm looking at some of the good deals coming up on Black Friday..  Figured I'm actually getting pretty good with XIM gaming on PS4 and don't want to handicap myself by getting a crappy TV...  I know in PC gaming that monitors can make a big difference..  Is console gaming in a similar boat?  Does anyone have any advice when looking at new TV's?

EDIT: I do not have a PS4 PRO - just the standard PS4...

Thanks!

the TV should have a gaming mode to reduce the delay, also you can use websites like prad.de (set it to english) or displaylag.com to research the inputlag of TVs that have a discount :)

For console gaming, aim for 1080p screen resolution and display lag of 16ms or less. 16.66ms is one frame at 60FPS, which is the fastest a console game will render. You can get a 4K TV, but your older PS4 model won't be able to do above 1080p.

Do your research, you should find a number of recent TVs with display lag of around 12-14ms.

Don't game without Gaming Mode enabled, otherwise the TV's post-processing will spike display lag to around 50ms or more. Great for movies, terrible for gaming.
