BO4 Sniper's Curve
« on: 07:57 AM - 10/19/18 »
Hi all.
Thought I'd share the Ballistic Curve that I'm using to snipe with, in Black Ops 4:

>>> XIM APEX [Translate Ballistics] START COPY >>>
X5BC:AAAAvwF+Aj0C+wO6BHkFOAX3BrYHdQgzCPIJsYpwivCLTQumi/4MbIzajXqOkpAEkYCTBpQVlPEVuxaEF04YGBjhGasadRs/HAgc0h2cHmUfLx/5IMIhjCJWIyAj6SSzJX0mRicQ:X5BC
<<< XIM APEX END COPY <<<

I'm an old school sniper and find it quite difficult to quickscope, so I needed help from my Apex in order to stay on target in middle-distance gunfights.
This curve works really well.
My micromovements are unaffected so that I don't over compensate when I'm shooting at long distance and my fast swipes, to snap onto target, are unchanged. The strength of the curve is that it reduces my mouse's sensitivity a little at normal ADS movement speed to give me a bit more control. I increased my ADS sensitivity by 25% to compensate so that I'm moving my reticle around more quickly other than when I'm focused on tracking a slow moving target.
With it, I'm getting headshots with relative ease and am much more confident about getting Diamond camo quickly for the snipers.

Oh, and it works fine if you're using any other weapon, just might need to tweak the Activation Delay as the animation is different for the different weapon categories. I don't. Can't be arsed.  ;)

I know someone will ask :) so here are my settings. They won't necessarily be the best ones for you ('cos you're not me!) so play around with them to find your sweet spot:

Mouse :1000 Hz, 3200 DPI
Apex: 250 Hz
Manager settings for ADS config:
  • Black Ops 4 ST
  • Activation delay: 224
  • Smooth Aim Transition: Off
  • Aim sensitivity: 10
  • Sync: Common
  • Smoothing: 0
  • Y/X Ratio: 1.25

Thanks. I don't use a curve for Hip (or rather didn't - I'll go back to BO4 when they bring out the no-Specialist play list  ;) )

Ceebs man whats up dude! I am glad to see you are in line as well for the no-specialist play list lol. They need to hurry up IMO.  I havent played BO4 since I am out of town but once I return I sure hope they make it a permanent mode.

Totally! So sick of BS Specialist deaths and scorestreak nerfs. It's like 3Arch have forgotten how to make a good MP CoD.

Lovin' Apex Legends tho'.  8)

Really love the curve, has helped me get dark matter. I notice if I try to use this curve for reg gunning, the aim assist is really sticky. Because of this, I use an Auxillary, any suggestions on how i could decrease the aa? Using 4K dpi, 12.50 sense, 10 hip, 1000hz and common sync.

Changing SYNC from Common to Default will reduce AA, take it one step further to Sync Off for more reduction. AA is pretty strong in cod tho, especially BO4

What the reason of have activation delay?

Activation delay helps you snap to your target better on weapons that have a fast ADS. For Snipers though, the activation delay is so your aim does not slow down until you are fully aimed down sights, since it usually takes longer to ADS. If you’re using it on Snipers with QuickDraw attached you may need to lower it, or for slower ADS such as a standard Paladin you may need to increase it.

WarCat is right.
Hip movement is faster than ADS.The ADS animation takes X time to scope in. Without an activation delay, you'd be on Hip sensitivity until the animation had completed, resulting in your aim being too sensitive for the first few milliseconds of being aimed in, so unless you're quickscoping, you'll overaim and miss your shot.
In earlier CoDs, the animation took 224 milliseconds, so I left the delay at that value.
That was a mistake.
In BO IIII, the ADS animation takes different lengths of time. Snipers take between 300 - 400 ms to scope-in (Koshka is quickest, Paladin is slowest), but this is reduced with Quickdraw. Unless you want to calculate the ADS for each sniper rifle and then reduce it for QD1 and QD2 when equipped, I'd leave it at 300+ ms.
