headset for ps4 pro
« on: 09:30 AM - 10/15/18 »
I currently have an Turtle Beach headset that uses USB for power and has a green and pink 3.5mm jack for audio/mic.  The mic does not work when I plug them into my ps4 pro controller (it doesn't matter where I use the USB power source, I can plug it into the wall for all it matters, it still doesn't work), but I do get sound.

I've read that the HyperX Cloud Alpha will work with the XIM Apex, mic and all. Can anyone confirm?  For the K+M, I'm using a das keyboard, and a logitech G500 mouse.  I just want to make sure that the mic will work before I drop $100 on it.

hey,

did you set your controller into usb/wired in the playstations system settings under devices?
if so the audio port of the controller works with your xim, unless your 3,5mm isnt a 4pole but a 3pole jack then your headset should work when connected to the controller

Yeah, the controller is set to USB mode.  The current headset is quite old and I can't find any information on it online, so I'm not sure exactly what it is.  The HyperX Cloud Alpha is a 4 pole 3.5mm jack.  That should work?

yes that should work

alternatively you can get an adapter cable to make a x2 3,5mm 3pole compatible to a 1x 3,5mm 4pole jack
you said your headset has a green and pink connector so its most likely a 3pole, with a cable mentioned above you can connect it directly to the controller

here an example:
green is for audio, pink for your mic

I bought the HyperX apex's and they work perfectly. I personally prefer HyperX over Turtle beach but that's my opinion. They are worth a look if you already are considering a 100$ headset.
