[ACTIVE] Odd problem with the Apex.

Over the last few weeks my Apex has developed an odd quirk. When I boot up my PS4, all the Apex's lights react as normal, as does the loading RGB config for my Allreli T9+. However, the Apex sees the keypad as a mouse. I then swap the keypad and mouse USB connectors over and both work perfectly. The next time I boot up my console, I get the problem again, which I once more solve by swapping the connectors over. It doesn't matter whether the keypad started off in Port 1 or Port 2, swapping them over causes the Apex to recognise what type of device is plugged in.

On Sunday, for the first time, this problem asserted itself in-game: my character started to spin uncontrollably. Hard booting my Apex didn't solve it, but swapping over the connectors again, did.

Any chance you can shed a light on this glitch, please, Mist?

Aside from the instance of spinning when the device icon is a mouse does everything work correctly?

The keypad is always an "unknown device".

'D' is set as the left movement key but goes up in the PS4 UI.
'S' is set as the move backward movement key but goes right in the PS4 UI.
'3' is mapped as the bottom D-pad key and as Inventory Down in Manager but moves down in the PS4 UI.
'4' is mapped as the right D-pad button and as Inventory Down in Manager but moves to the right in the UI whilst held down, but moves to the left as soon as it is released and continues to do so until it reachs the last menu icon.
'2', top D-pad button, Inventory Up, moves up.
'G', R1, moves to the last icon on the right whilst pressed, then scrolls back to the left continually when released.

Thanks, this is sounding like a compatibility issue. The spinning could be related to power draw, are you using a power adapter or disabling lighting?

I would think that instead of power cycling each startup you could instead leave the keypad disconnected until after APEX is started. XIM may have an easier time understanding the device if started this way.

No joy. Tried your suggestion but still get the same error. Thanks anyway.

I've now tried swapping the controller and then the controller's USB cable. Still no joy.

I've now replaced the Apex hub. Seems to have sorted the problem. I'll game for a few hours and see what happens.

I'll update this thread to let you know the result.

I've now restarted the console several times and played for a few hours without the error reoccurring.

Looks like the Apex hub had developed a fault.

Thanks for sharing this. I haven't seen a reports of a hub sending the wrong inputs. I'm curious though if it's related to your keypad's function key, light modes, or shortcuts. There are a few shortcuts listed in the manual. ESC+TAB is reset all and ESC+B swaps the WASD functions around which is what you experienced. Something to try if it happens again.
