[ACTIVE] Xim Apex Disconnecting
« on: 01:31 AM - 07/11/18 »
I just got the xim apex and when I am playing Rainbow Six Siege my mouse and keyboard disconnect randomly. I start to spin in a circle or keep walking in the direction that I was going. I then have to unplug the Xim and plug it back in to fix the problem. I have the latest firmware and all of my cables are working. Also my controller is fully charged, please help.

Hey,

does your XIM show red/yellow lights in those moments?
it sounds like you have a powerdraw issue, if your setup draws too much electricity from the console usb port the xim will shut off (or some attached devices) to prevent potential damage

if you have eg a backlight keyboard then i recommend you to turn the lights off
alternatively use a usb hub with external power supply or get a power brick for your xim hub :)

(its worth it to share your full setup here, eg what keyboard and so on)

Okay I am not sure that my mouse or keyboard has the option to turn the lights off but I will for sure try and see if I can!

Mouse: Redragon M711 COBRA Gaming Mouse
Keyboard: Redragon K552 KUMARA LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

I also do have a power strip that I plug my ps4 into if that matters at all.

Also I am not sure what lights show up when it disconnects as I usually just want to unplug and re plug it in so I can keep playing but I think that it usually just stays red.

The issue is likely related to power after looking at your peripherals. Ultimately a power adapter should help if other steps don't help. Here is the full troubleshoot list.

1) Connecting the controller direct with the console to charge for 1-2 hours
2) Charge other battery powered peripherals direct with the console as well
3) Disable LEDs on your peripherals
4) Add additional power to your setup. APEX supports power adapters using this spec and these can be found on Amazon or Ebay: 5V 3A power adapter  ([3.5mm x 1.35mm], center-positive)
5) Use low power peripherals

I have turned off all of the lights on my keyboard and mouse and charged my controller, and it has disconnected 1 time in the past hour. Its better but still disconnecting.

Hey,

if thats the case then i would go for an external power supply
either get the one mist mentioned above that is compatible with your xim hub, or get eg a usb hub from eg anker that already comes with an external power supply
