I've heard that moving the right analog stick on the controller would slightly throw off the calibration, and eventually you'd need to recalibrate.  Is this true?

Yes it changes the resting position of your stick. I recalibrate once a month, others do it every few weeks.

if you have the analog sticks disabled in your cfg, touching the sticks won't harm your current calibration
plus it's better that way, because if they are moved after calibrating, your aim will be affected (in my case it's looking up and it doesn't go in a straight line)

but as i said, if you have no problem with it, disable your sticks because sometimes they can get knocked without you knowing about it

i recommend virgin media!

How do you use your wireless one when XIM is plugged into your xbox.  The game won't allow you to use both controllers at the same time right?

I recalibrate when ever i feel my aim is dropping, i don't know if its the 2 - 3 min break i have while am recalibrating (i know it only takes 10 seconds) Or the actual recalibrating its self, but my cfg always feels better tighter / less floaty and there is less pixel jumping...

It maybe a placebo, but i feel it helps a lot.

Main recalibration points for me:

- before starting up for the day.
- after making a new cfg. (new game / same game / testing cfg's)
- when my aim is lacking.
- if i see any strange movement that i didn't "input" via mouse.

-------

Quick question to OBsIV: What about calibrating on the XIM3 whats the deal with that?

Do we? don't we? automatic at start up?

-------

Quick question to everyone else: Does anyone else get small zig zag movements while throwing nades? (while your looking up holding down you nade button "key4" for me, i get a jittery feeling from the mouse?? is this normal?)

I recalibrate every time i unplug the xim2. I feel like the mouse moves slightly different when that happens.

I dont. most of the games I play are either xim only or controller only. never had the need to use both at the same time. Its a personal preference. even with halo I know the movement is not very good with xim on vehicles but im use to it and it doesnt bother me much.

Wow... I'm glad someone brought this up.  I'll have to do it tonight.  I've never recalibrated since I hooked it up, and I use my sticks when selecting menus!  I didn't know it affected it.  I noticed my game really stepping up lately, maybe my config is so broken, that I've created a new sweet spot, LOL!  Maybe I should just leave it!  Oh god!

I don't know how often I do it. Whenever I see something on here about recalibrating usually. Never noticed a difference so I thought it was a gypsy myth, but I don't touch my controller.
