FedEx Duty & Tax invoice
« on: 09:44 AM - 03/20/18 »
So I got a letter through the mail from FedEx a few days ago after receiving my Apex with a Duty & Tax bill, worth £26.  Wasn’t exactly expecting this, may be a silly question but do I have to pay this?

Thanks

Yes, when purchasing outside of your country you are subject to taxes and fees that your country may impose. The total should be about the same if you had purchased from a distributor in your country. These sales would add on taxes and fees into the purchase price as well as a possible markup to turn a profit. If you're willing to share I would be interested in knowing if the total is slightly more or less than if you had bought locally from a shop on this page:

Ah right okay, I just assumed this would have been included in the shipping costs when purchasing.

Well including this bill the total order came to £128l, whereas if I was to buy from the UK distributor I believe it was something like £106 with free shipping.

ADZ are charging £104.99 delivered, inc.tax.
My APEX from XIM Technologies cost £97.28 inc. shipping. My additional FedEx bill is ~£26.  £123 in total.
So it's cost me just over £18 more to buy direct from XIM Tech.

Yeah the Xim is so great that getting it a few days early is how I will justify spending an extra £22 for it hahaha *screams internally*

You need to pay the VAT element but I’d dispute the £12 ‘advancement fee’. I’ve not paid that, and got FedEx to remove it from the invoice.
