xbox360 cooling

sorry if this has been posted before, but I have just had to purchase a new xbox360 as my old on has died...... no video but has sound.

I was wondering if there was any "cooling" options that people have had success with.  With the impending release of the XIM3, I see that my gaming time will triple in the next few months.

any help would be most apreciated people.

I wouldn't worry too much bout this on the new slims. They have a thermal safety feature that shuts them down when the board reaches max temperature threshold.

thank you.  So am I to assume that the "heat related" problems of the previous models of xbox 360 are a non-event now ?

I thought all XBOX 360s shut down when they reach the max temp?  Mine is an initial release 360 (after rrod fix) and it shuts down if it gets too hot.  Hasn't happened since I blew as much dust as I could without tearing open the case all the way.  I also vacuumed it afterward.

you have sound, but no video??  When my 360 was overheating, the whole console would freeze, not just the video.

 Have you tried resetting your xbox's video settings?  I had to do this when I changed some resolution options and killed my video output, but still got sound.

Lol my xbox360s just overheats and stops working with no message so I don't know what thats all about.

towel trick worked for the RROD xbox.  Still getting a new one though, just waiting for it to arrive....... which isnt a problem as Im waiting for the xim3 to go with it.

what cooling option works?
take the entire thing apart so that it is the bare system. move the DVD drive and replace the small heatsink with one of the xbox 360 CPU heatsinks. replace the back fans with a pair of heatsink mounted fans of any type. even 60mm will keep them cool out of the case.

short of that. same @#$%, different day. doesn't matter.

Received my 360 slim today, seems a lot better in terms of heat diversion. Much better design IMHO
