I remember reading here that the quality of the cable itself was pretty bad and that the protective tube comes off easily. I've had that happen within a week of getting the cable but now a few months after that it seems that the wire has been damaged as my image has a purple hue. Anyone know what the warranty is for those cables?

I've had absolutely no problems with the official Microsoft cable, and I've had it since I got my 360 last May. Personally I don't trust many third party accessories.

It is the official Microsoft one that I have. I remember asking whether the third party one's are good and I think someone mentioned having problems with Microsoft's wires.

i bought 3 vga cables in the past 1 and half years. 1 was from microsoft and the other 2 from third party on ebay. All 3 functioned the same, with the only difference to the apearance of the cable itself, even that was quite similar. I didnt have any problem with ghosting. Vga cables are perfect for someone with a standard television. the clear display from a computer monitor really improve gameplay. I strongly recommand the vga cable. The only issue i have some across is the fact that certain monitors do not use standard aspect ratios, images may become streched or skewed.

I'm having the same problems with the M$ VGA cable... If i plug my laptop on my screen i get a very good image, but when i use the M$ cable(new from the package) to connect the 360 my whole screen is ghosting like hell. I tought at first changing the reso setting would make a difference but they don't.   :(

Did anyone had the same problem and was able to fix it?

Not that this helps anyone but I've been using the same set of official cables since release with no issues. No ghosting, No exposed wires, No flaky color channels. I _can_ tell they have next to no shielding though. So if your getting ghosting issues, try running your cable away from power cords/florescent lights/or any other alternating current source or adapter. Also avoid coiling slack VGA cable.

What's ghosting? Is it like an outline around things?

I use a third party one and it seems to work perfectly with me.

It's when an image moves such as a persons head on screen and when they move there is a faint image of them left behind momentarily. Also when moving a mouse cursor around (best tested with a black desktop background and a oversized WHITE cursor) you can tell by moving slowly then more quickly. You will see what appears like a "double vision" effect.

My samsung 24" doesn't ghost hardly at all. Some higher end TV's still ghost, which is amazing since you drop 3k on a LCD just to have it ghost. Makes me hotter than butter drippin off a hot biscuit.

Wow it's about time someone caught that. I have been saying this for years on various forums and no one has ever said that. Congrats! Hehe.
