xim apex with slim controller is better?

I had a slim controller that broke. I used USB connect mode. I used an old controller and used usb mode on it (even though it doesnt support it) and it still went faster then when it was disabled. Someone said in other thread they are both same for apex. How can that be true if one controller is wired and one uses bluetooth even when plugged into usb.

Both controllers connect in wired mode regardless of the communication mode setting. XIM4 and APEX force the controller into wired mode when the bluetooth comm setting is used. New controllers set to wired mode as the communication method have the ability to use the 3.5mm jack while connected to APEX.
