I've been a Xim user and active member of this community for several years now. I'm one of the biggest advocates (ok probably "The Biggest") for Advanced Settings in this forum and I personally use them with pretty much every single game I play.

That being said...

My advice to everyone, especially new users is this.

You DONOT have to use Advanced Settings (curves, etc.) To make Xim4/APEX usable and effective. As a matter of fact, you should ALWAYS start out only using the proper ST (smart translator) for a game and give it atleast a few weeks before even considering Advanced Settings.

There's a reason Advanced Settings are called "Advanced." They are not always necessary to use and can be confusing for new users. Which means they should be avoided until you have a good understanding of the product and you feel you need to chg something based on your own personal preferrance or in game performance.

As a new user all you need to do is follow the startup guide. Load up the proper ST for your game. Setup your button configuration and adjust the Hip and ADS sensitivity to your liking. THAT'S IT FOLKS!

Give that a go for atleast a few weeks. It's going to take you that long just to figure out if Vanilla settings are good enough for you. And if they aren't then why? After all, how can you troubleshoot a problem if you don't even understand what the problem is? After that, then start searching through the forum to see if others are experiencing similar issues to your own. How did they address it, what are my options? I have put together a bunch of stuff related to Advanced Settings and linked the thread in my signature. If the time ever comes and you feel the urge to learn or do more then you should start there.

I hope this helps ease some confusion and or frustration for newer users.

This product is light years ahead of any other kb/m adapter out there and Advanced Settings may not be  necessary for your needs. Don't jump in over your head. You may make things worse then they need to be.

Baby steps...

CHEERS!

Good post!

I think there's maybe 2-3 games where I use advanced settings over just the Vanilla ST and I own a LOT of games. I always try to use Vanilla for every game first so I can focus on using just 1 firmware without bouncing from one to another every time I want to load a different game. Its silly to constantly be switching from sa3 to 5 to vanilla if you don't have to. I mean I love my Xim and I try my best to steer potential customers their way to help support them but I wont go so far as to buy a separate Xim for each fireware I want to run no matter how much I love the product lol but
RML is right on the money on this

I don't always word things right. I realize that using the latest firmware you can still use advanced settings with it and I'm misusing the word vanilla but you get what I'm saying I hope  :)

well said, i have stopped counting on how often i had to kindly advice new users to not instantly jump into advanced settings
the main problem might be its wording "advanced" which quickly is associated with "better" or "enchanced" by newcomsers, though all that the advanced settings do is to offer those 1-5% of the xim user base a customization platform for their mouse movements to work in a non PC 1:1 way

that doesnt mean those options are better or worse, they just allow a certain group of people to match their mouse behaviour to their gaming habbits

if i would go through all of my xim configs only 5% of those run advanced settings, mainly in sub configs to make vehicles or turrets easier to handle
the large share of my configs does just fine without advanced settings as i prefer the mouse movement to act just like on pc :)

Thanks for the advice. I just purchased the XIM4 and have been struggling with it the entire weekend. I have read hundreds of threads and YouTube videos but just cannot get it to work properly. I consistently have the same problem.
I'm running a Logitech G13 and G502 on my PS4 playing The Division. I have followed the instructions to the letter. I have upgraded all firmware. I have tried other users settings but still the same problem. The left and right mouse buttons will not map to ads and fire, some keys on the game pad map to different functions than what I set it to, and I'm about to pull my hair out.
Now for someone with your experience this is probably a simple problem so I ask nicely - please help......
Thanks for your time.

hey

this sounds like you either do not use the default controller layout in the game options of the division or you changed your controller layout in your console system settings
the xim will always show you the button binding of the ingame controller default layout, if you prefer to use a different layout then you have to check what button does what on your controller and bind your actions in the xim config accordingly :)

You are a genius! That's it. So simple yet I struggled all weekend. Experience out trumps all.
Thanks a million. This community rocks.
Do you have a solution for headphones and mic on PS4?
Thanks again.

Thanks again.

most people use a cheap usb soundcard just like the creative soundblaster play 2 which acts 1:1 as a controller audio port replacement
same connection type too, so if your headset works with the controller then it will automatically work with this usb soundcard too
the card also comes with an adapter for different connectors if needed
