XIM APEX won't do anything for a console controller, e.g when using DualShock 4 on PS4. The controller is there to authenticate XIM APEX as a genuine controller to the PS4. None of the XIM APEX features affect an authentication controller.
XIM APEX is a mouse & keyboard adapter and should be viewed as such. The only way to affect controller input on XIM APEX is to use the Console Controller Crossover config, as well as a second controller attached to XIM APEX from another console, e.g XB1 controller on PS4, or vice-versa. Analog settings in XIM APEX Manager will affect the controller (maybe Actions too, I haven't tried), but you can't use most Expert XIM APEX features with a controller.
