GTA V - question about additional settings
« on: 04:32 PM - 10/23/16 »
I find it about surprising that the recommended config for third person is with such a large deadzone. And both third person and first person have acceleration. What's with the two unusual options? I'm sure there's a good reason for it but it did take me for surprise.

Third question - I'm also surprised to see aim assist recommended. Since this game has such an unusually strong AA I would have thought free aim would be the go?
Setup: XIM Apex, Titan Two, K780 keyboard, G Pro Wireless mouse, Logitech G440 mousepad, LucidSound LS30 headphones, Netduma router, Ubiquiti UniFi AP LR wireless access point

Deadzone setting is for better micro movement. Remember that the ST removes the deadzone.

Aim assist had the better look mechanic, it changes between modes. Be sure you are using the correct version listed in xim4.com/settings

Edit: that's 'assisted aim'

Also, this made more sense to support given using no aim assist would put you in less populated lobbies. I wish this didn't have to be a compromise. It's unusual that aim assist changes the look mechanic.

Interesting. I'm not actually using my XIM until the XB1 S bluetooth is supported, so without an ST, would you recommend turning it down to 0 for now?

In the page you just have "Assisted Aim".

There are actually two options:

"Assisted Aim-Partial"

"Assisted Aim-Full"

Which one should I choose when using the ST? Or are they identical in terms of the impact on XIM?

I haven't tried it but it seems like it would be subjective to a point of where the deadzone is. Give it a try.

If I remember correctly there are two look mechanics, assisted aim and free aim. It shouldn't matter which version of assisted aim you use. Even with the support though GTAV has a pretty bad look mechanic, it was supported due to demand.

Yeah there's 4:

Assisted Aim - Partial
Assisted Aim - Full
Free aim - Partial
Free aim

I assume you mean that we should choose 1 or 2? Or did you mean 1, 2 or 3?

Less populated means less people to bug you when you're running CEO missions.   ;)

Sorry for posting here but is it possible to get an ST for free aim?

There are no plans for that type of support. Assisted aim was picked for two reasons

1) It is where most of the population plays online. The game modes are separated by aim mode.
2) The look mechanic for GTAV is very poor. If this were not GTAV the game may not have been supported. The look mechanic needs all the help it can get and the experience benefits from the assisted modes.

Yes, the look mechanic is poor, but the only real problem I see is the time-based acceleration. The strange response curve shouldn't be a huge problem, as there are no velocity jumps or anything.

So why not?

I'm asking cause I actually once measured the turn speed of 50 values, then assigned an interval of input to each of those with a Titan One script in order to make it as 1:1 as I could, but only vertically and horizontally, cause the game had a circular look mechanic and my script was already too big for T1. It worked to some surprisingly big extent.

My guess is that with the computing power of the XIM4, you might be able to make something 100x better than what I did.

It's not just the timed acceleration, the look mechanic doesn't offer good granular movement or transitions between angles.

EDIT: Just did some testing with the Titan Two and yep, it's really bad :/

Even if XIM4 cannot compensate everything, I think it has much more potential when it comes to this game.

I really want to play in free aim lobbies less ppl less lag. What do you recommend I use for 3rd person aiming? Since they don't want to support the game I'm looking for help from ppl that know more then me

There's not much you can do with the XIM4... but try the standard third person config.

GTA V has even more problems than what I remembered. mist4fun is right, the game has horrible diagonals and it's not because of the time-based acceleration. (The only thing XIM4 should do better is compensating the response curve.)
