Sub configs discussion [Advanced Users Only]
« on: 01:34 PM - 07/18/16 »
I would like to continue to discuss subs here. I believe they're an important part of the XIM experience. There's a link below to where the conversation began. Please read through the last couple pages (if this interest you) and then reply here. Subs can drastically improve the XIM experience with TWO of the XIM big hitters, Destiny and BF. They could also be very useful for setting up multiple weapon configs with COD games (or any other game). This could resolve issues with using different ADS delays/configs/curves/SA/Boost for different weapons, weapon attachments or picking up weapons off the ground. It will also resolve issues with vehicles, utilizing different settings for different vehicles/turrets and ADSing while in a vehicle. It could also potentially resolve the argument of PD/NPD.

Thanks,

I'm not sure if I understand your idea correctly. You want to be able to move through subs, without going directly to the default hip? Pretty much going through subs and back like going through inventory with the scroll wheel?

Hey RML I think it would be good if you posted your little picture in here too.

As to your idea I really like the idea of having ADS option on the sub configs, imagine the posibilities

You could change the look sens when you zoom in on guns in jeeps,  the zoom in on the transport heli guns

you could lower the sens on the zoom in on the main tank and lav zoom

Yes sir I like this Idea, and I play alot of BF4

I mean Alot

Hopefully I'll have some time to chat about this later today, been super busy lately. I plan on posting how things currently work and how I would like it to work, when I get the time.

I have to be honest here ...

I haven't played BF4 in quite awhile. I jumped back in yesterday for several hours. The first thing I noticed was they added a vehicle sensitivity chg. This really helps with XIM4. I found it very easy to control all vehicles and turrets with basically just one extra sub-config. This is a HUGE improvement for us XIM folks and really quiets ALOT of my concerns.

I also noticed that ADS doesn't work well with Tanks and Turrets. This is because of their toggle nature and unresponsive they can feel at times. So I made an extra Primary just for Tank and made ADS to toggle. The problem was I would toggle the config but the Tank wouldn't respond 100% of the time and I'd still be stuck in ADS. So I would end up with the wrong config active for Tank. In order for this to work properly I had to use a hold behavior, which was actually more confusing then it was worth.

Long story short. If BF1 has similar settings as BF4 does right now, I won't be nearly as concerned as I was previously. The fixes they added to BF4 has helped enough that I feel like my complaint here with Subs isn't as valid as it was and I don't really think OBsIV needs to waste time with it at this point.

Not to say subs can't be utilized better, I just think it doesn't need as much attention anymore. Dice already fixed my biggest issue!  :)

Oh yeah, when they added the vehicle sensitivity it made subs better managed. I set my vehicle sub sensitivity to where I would like it when I ads (still using hip translator). I use turn assist to make 180's or more.

I have:

Infantry hip, ADS, Vechiles (for both ground and turrets), jets, helicopters. I used to have a reset to infantry sub, but with the cancel keys on subs, I no longer need it.

I think you are adding an ads sub after a vehicle sub (is that correct?). And coming out of the vehicle ads is probably not sending you back to vehicles (maybe infantry) so it ends up with things being screwy? I think in that instance it would be nice to be able to link sub configs within sub configs.

So I can have:

infantry hip, ads, vehicle, -( linked to )- vehicle ads, jets, heli (no ads on aircraft).

This way when you ads (say using hold or toggle) it doesn't send you back into infantry hip (primary).

Hope this made sense....

OBsIV, can you revisit this please? This day and age with developers making AA variable between weapons, ranges, perks and even attachments sometimes. I find it would be VERY beneficial to have Subs that have thier own ADS settings.

I'd like to use different settings, ballistics, etc. between weapons. This is currently only doable by using multiple Primary configs per game.

Please let me know if you need further clarification on this.

I'll be posting a new Destiny setup this weekend, it'll be a great example of what I'm talking about.

Thank you

Love these dudes. No, no BF1 in this thread.

RML there several threads on this back in my times. The problem with subconfigs was always ADS from subconfig and how to get back or where to get back. Cascading worked pretty well in XIM3 and did just what you need. Was sureal what you could do with it.

I forgot to mention that this could also fix the issue with long range jitters by allowing the user to use a sub off of ADS without defaulting back to hip when deactivated.

It appears this is falling on deaf ears though, Again!

I don't think most comprehend how broke subs are right now and how much they can really improve the game if done right.

Ok, I'm trying to understand the proposal correctly. When you enter the Tank or Turret sub-config, does it stay in there until you manually exit? And, that ADS while in Tank, for example, is the common ADS, or a different ADS specific to Tank?

Yes, for things like vehicles and turrets I use Toggle behavior. Currently, the only way to enter/exit a vehicle and activate/deactivate a sub-config at the same time is with a macro.

And, that ADS while in Tank, for example, is the common ADS, or a different ADS specific to Tank?

It needs to be a different ADS, which is specific to the Tank. Basic ADS isn't ideal for this purpose for many reasons, sens settings is just one. Here's where the real fun starts though. I know you're not going to like this comment, but... The ADS "for Tank" also needs to have Hold/Toggle behavior. This is because the Tank ADS "in game" Toggles, it doesn't utilize/offer a hold behavior.

Currently due to the way Subs cascade, the only way to have independent settings with their own independent ADS for things such as tank. Is to use another Primary config just for tank. The problem with this of course is that it takes away a button, GLOBALLY!

For example, let's say Tank is a primary config and I want to activate Tank with right scroll, for ease of access. I obviously have to assign Tank activation to right scroll. This means now, no matter what game I'm playing, if I click right scroll it's going to activate my Tank config. Hopefully you can see why that is very problematic.

I would like to be able to use buttons such as Left scroll/right scroll for multiple games to activate subs. As a NAV user this is very important to me due to my lack of buttons. For example, when playing Destiny. I want to use right scroll for activating my sparrow sub config. While playing BF1, I want to use right scroll for activating my Tank sub config. While playing COD, I want to use right scroll for activating my Killstreak sub config. This is currently impossible if I have to use right scroll to activate a primary in order to have ADS with that config.

I guess the quickest solution is to treat Subs as if they were primaries, each with it's own ADS. We just need to be able to do this within ONE group of configs. Another words, it won't effect Global settings. It just rotates around Primaries within one game/group of config settings.

I hope that makes sense.

Ok, you toggle to get into Tank (which is "Tank-Hip"), and then you want to Tank-ADS. When you exit Tank-ADS, you want it to return back to the last active sub-config. This would be true for Hold as well. If Tank were on Hold, if you are holding and then you press Tank-ADS (say it's Hold too), as long as you don't let go of the Tank-Hip hold button, when you release Tank-ADS, you'll want Tank-Hold to be the active sub-config.

In programming terms you want a active "stack" of sub-configs. If you disengage any sub-config that's current active in the stack, then, it's removed (even if it's in the middle).

Is this what you mean?
