I picked up the Razer Deathstalker Chroma because I'm used to the membrane keyboard on my Macbook Pro.  I couldn't be happier with it ;D

I like the Logitech G410 for several reasons -

1. It's plug-and-play, draws little power and does not require LED lights to be turned off when used with Xim4.
2. It's mech and tenkeyless, so has a small-ish desktop footprint.
3. Setting custom lighting zones in Logitech Gaming Software saves on-board and works on Xim4.
4. Has no problem working through USB switches and hubs, so I can share it between Xim4, PC and Mac.
5. Plays friendly with Karabiner app on Mac for custom key bindings.

Gaming purposes?  K70 RGB Cherry MX Reds  or K70 Cherry Reds in general.
General purpose and not gaming? K70 RGB Cherry Browns. Better for typing.

unlike with a gaming mouse theres close to no advantage when using a gaming keyboard over a standard keyboard
means you should go with whatever keyboard you feel comfortable with and meets your price

Overall, Od1n is right.

However, I prefer the feel of using mech boards with red switches.

If you want a board that is just really solid and highly regarded, Ducky sells boards that are plug and play, no drivers needed and fully operational out of the box.  They also have on-board macro support, so you can bind multiple keys to a single key press, etc.

Their cheapest fully featured board seems to be the Ducky One TKL (no LED) at $90 - which is reasonable for the caliber of keyboard.

I used a Ducky Shine 5 for a while, then switched to an MK Disco (Ducky is the OEM), before settling on my CM Master Keys Pro S (awesome board).

For me personally the best gaming keyboard is the MS Natural. I've been using that thing for years, but to each their own.

Only alternative I'd give a shot is one of those Razer gaming boards.

Thread necro.

G13 is great, if you're right-handed. I'm left-handed, so not great.
