Yea man im not worried about my 3770k bottlenecking and its a generation newer. Im sure itll be fine and you can oc if needed. Also ocing is pretty simple these days.

These are going to be insanely hard to buy at first, I still need a monitor worthy enough. I want to see real benchmarks though, instead of their top of the line rig running a single card.

I do not think it's all that fast other the in VR.  Waiting for the Ti model is probably wiser.

980 SLI still beats it by about 15 fps on most games. 1080 runs tomb raider like a beast tho, but who cares, I'm waiting until next year when asus comes out with their matrix ti version. It would def still be a good upgrade for me at 600$, but when spending that much you gotta go with top of the line, it won't be a flagship for long.

Meh. Wake me when any card can pull a solid 60FPS @ 4K.

Until then, I'll stick to the far cheaper 60FPS @ 1080p on console and buy a PS4.5.

Ultra settings 4K is averaging about 30-50, huge step up for 4K. Still way too early imo tho, especially for fps games.

144hz 120+ fps is what I prefer.

I am very excited for the 1080. I am quite impressed by the benchmarks released by various sites and can't wait to see how a Ti does. I recently bought a new house, and I am ashamed to admit that it was important to have an extra bedroom to be used exclusively for room scale VR.

I have been using a GTX 690 for the last few years and it has been (and still is) a great card for 1080p gaming. It just can't reasonably pull off VR. I am super stoked that so much power is available on a single card, SLI has been nothing but a pain in my @#$%.

How much PCIe bandwidth is required to fully utilize the 1080's power? Is PCIe bandwidth affect by your mobo or your processor?

The whole appeal of a PC gaming rig is maxed settings.

I made the transition to console from PC in 2009 after my brand spanking new $3500 quad-SLI GTX 295 bleeding edge PC was still incapable of 1080p at anything resembling a decent framerate and I've barely touched it since. I'll happily play at lower res / FPS on console to forego the hardware circlejerk and MP hackers prevalent on PC, but if I'm gaming on PC I want the absolute best visual fidelity if I'm outlying a few grand on the thing.

Right now, that's 4K @ 60FPS at max settings, though ideally, it'd be 120FPS. I've waited close to a decade for the snail-like pace of PC hardware to meet consumer expectations, I'll wait a little longer.

You're probably going to wait your whole life. Tbh.   Though you will have a cell phone more powerful than your xbone or ps4 in a year or two so thats something to look forward to.

They just released a couple days ago, you can get the founders for the advertised price, but the fan makes a little noise. I'm waiting for the evga atx to drop to it's advertised price or waiting for the ti if that doesn't happen. Probably going to dump 1500$+ into this upgrade so I'm in no rush.
