how are the g502 sidebuttons compared to the g900 ones?
my biggest problem is that the g502 sidebuttons are way too far placed near the rear of the mouse
i like sidebuttons close to the front such as with the mx518, g400, ...

They are closer to the front than on the G502, but not by a lot.  The forward button is long so it extends closer to the front.  The back button is easier to hit than the back button on the G502, as well.  They aren't as far forward as the ones on the G602 if memory serves, but I could be misremembering.

You'll notice a difference, but you may still want them closer.  Just a guess.

i see, thanks man

will probably wait for the next logitech mouse then and how its side-buttons are placed :)

Hey web, my G900 arrived today and I love the mouse but right and left scroll clicks aren't responding properly. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I used right scroll click on my g502 for spotting on bf4 and it worked a treat. Any ideas!

Hi web, hope you don't mind me bothering you but I have a problem with my G900. The left and right scroll clicks aren't responding no where near as well as they did on my G502. I love everything about this mouse but right and left scroll are very important for me because I use a nav. You having this prob? They work but not very well, either have to hold it or it works randomly. It's almost like there's a delay on these 2 buttons

I have had the opposite experience.  The left/right scroll clicks work exceptionally well for me.  They are easy to press, yet have a satisfying click so I know I pressed them.  They never fail to register and there is no delay.  They don't take much pressure to activate, yet I have never once pushed them by accident, even when using middle click.  I have left scroll set as '3' and right scroll as '4' keystrokes.

On the G502, they were not reliable for me at all, even when setting them to commands that I didn't use often like activating and deactivating vehicle/Sparrow/Killstreak sensitivity for Battlefield/Destiny/CoD.  They were horrible.  On the G900, I have them assigned to functions that I use constantly like switch weapon and melee, and they work without fail.

Not sure why my experience is different from yours.  I could list a few generic troubleshooting tips, but most likely not the answer.  Maybe a QC issue?  Got a bad 900?  Might need to contact logitech.

Oh you have to set them to keystrokes? I didn't have to do that with G502. Maybe this is the problem. Thanks

Still no luck, I did a factory reset on mouse to see if would help but problem is still the same. It's only on these two Buttons. The click on the mouse seems fine but ever button I assign the right and left scroll click to just doesn't respond properly. Like I have to press it a little further than than the actual click. Really don't want to have to send it back if I can help it

That sucks.  I didn't think that was the issue.  Don't know what it could be either.

Curious if anyone else is having this issue.

Not sure if this will help solve my problem but when I hold right scroll click in I get the spotting sound in bf4 constantly repeated but if I hold the spot button on the controller the command list pops up (need a medic, need ammo, need a ride etc) I switched over to my g502 and when I hold the right scroll click in the command list pops up fine. Do you have bf4 web? If you could test this for me I would much appreciate it. Then if you don't get this problem I will return my g900, thanks

I'll test it when I get home.  I'm at work now.

I can tell you this.  I don't know if you play Destiny, but there are actions that require that you hold the Triangle button down.  When you do, a progress circle comes up that goes clockwise to tell you that you are progressing to activate the action and how much longer you have left.  I assign Left Scroll as my Triangle button and I can do all of the hold down Triangle actions just as well as with any button on the mouse, or the actual triangle button on the controller.

I mention the progress circle to say that it constantly and consistently goes around in a smooth arc when the button is held.  Let go of the button for even a split second and it goes back to 12:00 and you have to start the circle progressing again.  You can not rapidly tap Triangle and complete the progress circle and do the action.  It must be held down.  This goes for the controller as well.  By this, I'm saying that the scroll clicks on my g900 can definitely be held down and aren't rapid firing the button.  It wouldn't work otherwise.  So, I can almost guarantee that I would be able to pull up the Commorose on Battlefield.  I will try it for you, though, in any event.

I don't think your G900 is faulty. You are talking about the left/right scroll wheel buttons right? The tilt wheel buttons?

When you look at XIM4 manager when you are binding these, they register as 'Lpan' and 'Rpan'. These pan functions are not reliable for button presses and will constantly give you the behavior you described (button not registering at all or registering after 2-3 seconds).

Basically all you gotta do is go into the Logitech software and change the Left/Right scroll buttons to keyboard keystokes. For example you could bind the left scroll to the number 8 and bind right scroll to number 9. That way when you register these buttons in XIM manager, they will show up as 8 and 9 instead of Lpan and Rpan.

These keyboard keystrokes should now give you regular button press behavior and you shouldn't have any issues with in game buttons not working.

HOWEVER, if you are running the G900 WIRED, I have found that XIM 4 Manager's current version will not pick up keyboard keystrokes from the mouse. This will likely be fixed in a future update. However, if you are running wireless, keyboard keystrokes register just fine and you should have no issues.

Tried using the left and right scroll as the Spot button in BF4 and it brought up the Commorose every time without fail when I would hold it down.  If you have yours set to keystrokes and they are not able to be held down and are instead rapid firing, I can only guess that either your mouse is defective, or there is some setting in LGS that I'm not aware of that would affect whether the buttons can be pressed continuously or not.

Sorry, I got nothing.

Just to be thorough, the side buttons on the G900 are approx 10mm further forward than on the G502.

Got the G900 yesterday and here's my first impression.
Comparison to the G502 and the deathadder chroma using the latest beta build firmware.

-You can't notice any difference  wired or wired less.
-Due to bigger mouse skates and MUCH lighter weight ( 107g vs 128g) it handles WAY better then the G502
The freedom of wireless also contributes a lot :)  Small victory over the deathadder (102g)

-Finally a decent scroll wheel!  (marginally beats the deather here too)
-Improved placement and design of the thumb button's  over the G502, but it's still easier to hit both thump button's on the deathadder at the same time. (I use them to activate specialist ability in BO3)

- M1 and M2 buttons are improved over the G502 and got the best feel of any mouse i've  ever used!
-Ergonomics are nice ,butt this is very subjective.. Some of the Sharpe shapes i cant feel in the palm.. but
due to the light weight, it's still feels better then the g502. The G900 is also bigger then the g502.
Compared to the deathadder, the deathadder still feels nicer to grip for me at this point.

-sensor performance is as expected: Excellent and still the best there is for the XIM. Beating the deathadder marginally.

So would i recommend it?  Sort of..
It blows the G502 out of the water because it handels SO MUCH better.
Freedom of wireless is just awsm! Evry button is build/place better then on the G502.
The big elephant in the room is the price.. After the new beta firmware the deathadder feels really good on the xim.
It's light weight, button's are placed out well, sensor preform is excellent AND even tough it's a braided cable, it's so nimble and flexible you barely notice it.  From a price point i can't defend it.
At least not only be used on the XIM :)

Will I keep it?  hell yeah!!
