Problem installing XIM on Windows 7 32bit
« on: 06:58 AM - 01/02/10 »
Hello everyone,

I've not used my XIM on my PS3 for over a year and have just tried to get it working with Windows 7 32bit. I'm trying to install;-

ximinstall-r10262007

I hit run, accept the terms in the licence agreement and am them given a screen asking me to choose what components I want to install. I tick the boxes in;-

XIM core
File associations
XIM config
PS3 XIMConfig Mod
Extra config files
SDK
(I don't tick toolstick firmwares)

I then click Next and the computer selects the destination folder as;-

C:\Program Files\XIM\

I click Next and am then asked about choosing a start menu folder. I leave everything as it is and click Install. A new window opens and I'm given this warning;-

XIM r10262007 Setup

Error opening file for writing:

C:\Program Files\XIM\Default.xim

Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, or
Ignore to skip this file.

I never used to get this message with XP and I'm way too thick to understand what's wrong. I'd really appreciate it if somebody clever can help me out.

Thanks for taking the time to read my problem.

Justin

It's working. I tried installing as an administrator and hey presto it's worked!  ;D
