Thanks guys,

Bonjah, it really depends on whether or not you like the feel of more AA. I haven't had a problem fixing the AA for any gun using the Steady Aim test firmware.

Man I love my XIM4. I've just recently got back into Destiny (thanks to some of you) and even though I've been away for about 6 months I'm still pulling off MVP's in most of my IB matches. I'm barely at 300 light and I have crap weapons. I mean I'm using an auto rifle in the IB for god sakes.

Anyways, quick question for you guys. Since all of my old weapons are outdated, what should I be looking to upgrade or acquire for PvP.

I like to snipe and use Hand Cannons mostly. I can get The Last Word (upgraded), when I get enough marks but is it still a good weapon? I've heard there's been alot of buffs/Nerfs while I've been away.

A few weapons I've heard thrown around Red Death, 1000 Yard Stare? What's the best Hand Cannon now and how do I get it?

The only decent weapon I have right now is Patience and Time. Is 1000 yard stare better or is it just better in the sense that I can use an Exotic for primary instead?

Appreciate the help.

High rate-of-fire, low-impact, low time-to-kill is the current meta. Red Death, and all low fire-rate weapons in general, have been nerfed into the dirt due to their high TTK.

- Hawksaw Pulse Rifle (Crucible vendor), 1000-yard Stare Sniper Rifle (Vanguard vendor) and Suros JLB-47 Rocket Launcher (Gunsmith, make sure to get Grenades & Horseshoes) are good starting points.
- Farm Omnigul with a trio of Hunters for Grasp of Malok to replace the Hawksaw. Takes 1-2 min per run, depending on Orb generation.
- Stillpiercer SR for Hunters is solid, get it from the Gunsmith questline. Can't be used by other classes. I dislike the Stillpiercer and prefer either the 1000-YS or Longbow. Zen Meteor (PS4 exclusive) is the only way to go for Exotic SRs, but that's more for sh!ts and giggles.
- Party Crasher+1, Conspiracy Theory-D (both with Rangefinder) and Universal Remote dominate the Shotgun scene.
- The Last Word is still very solid and is the most used Hand Cannon in PvP. Save up your Marks, get the Y2 version and infuse that sucker up. Hawkmoon remains highly regarded, as is the baby Hawkmoon, Eyasluna, which frees up the Exotic slot.
- Doctrine of Passing is the Auto-rifle of choice. Soulstealer's Claw from Challenge of Elders is the only real alternative. Failing that, a god roll Arminius-D from the Gunsmith will do the job.
- Truth is the only Rocket Launcher worth getting and it dominates Trials. Tormod's Bellows with Tripod and Grenades & Horseshoes would be an ideal Legendary Rocket Launcher, but that only comes around once every few IBs.
- For Machine Guns, Zombie Apocalypse drops pretty frequently from packages. The raid MGs see a lot of use, but ZA has more bullets in the magazine, fires faster and is easier to get. Thunderlord if you're after an Exotic.
- MIDA Multi-tool, Cocytus SR4, Hung Jury SR4 and Tlaloc are solid Scout Rifles. Tlaloc is obtained via a Gunsmith questline for Warlocks and can be beastly, but requires you to hang onto your Super. Best swapped in when Super is full. MIDA's really the only way to go.
- Plan C, Ashraven's Flight or The Vacancy for Fusion Rifles. I really enjoy FRs, but they're still in a no man's land and can't compete with either Shotguns or Snipers. I want to get my hands on a Telesto to at least make sure that Shotgunner is going down with me.
- Havoc Pigeon (Crucible vendor) or Queen's Choice (Challenge of Elders) for Sidearms. Range is again a problem with Sidearms outclassed by other Specials.

The Last Word paired with 1000-Yard Stare, JLB-47 or a Zombie Apocalypse is a really solid load-out. Longbow (only from reputation packages) could replace 1000-YS, but they're interchangeable.

Handcannon - Hawkmoon (Like a scout rifle that is vey good hip firing as well)
AR - Doctrine/Soulstealers (Not as widespread since the update but still cleans house)
Pulse - Pdx45 or Grasp (Grasp is the same as Oversoul Edict without the full auto. Get it with a range buf and win every one v one)
Scout - Mida/Tlaloc (Mida is obvs still brilliant but not OP. Tlaloc is also amazing and not OP because the cost of using it is high ie no Super)

I play a lot of PVP RML so add me if you need someone to run with.

Does the curve used here for ADS fight against AA?

I would have assumed for Destiny you dont want to negate the AA as it allows you to do some frankly silly drag snipes hence why I use an LDR as although the AA is not as high as Longbow it has larger magazine by default.

The curve is meant to help with the sudden slow down caused by AA (break through the bubble effect). It's meant to help you get on the target, if you're over aiming try lowering your sensitivity as the curve is raising your sens a little.

If AA isn't an issue for you then don't use a curve. It's really meant for people that find themselves fighting the bubble effect around the player. This is much worse in PvE vs. PvP and of course some guns and attachments vary in the amount of AA.

Cool, I'm on Xbox though. I'll send you a friend request next time I'm on. I'm really needing peeps to do raids with. I haven't done any with Taken King yet so it's hard to pair up with randoms on the Destiny website. Everyone wants people with experience and higher light levels (I'm 304), can't say I blame them, but that pretty much leaves me out in the cold. Most of my friends have moved on to The Division.

I have noticed there's still ALOT of players though, the Tower is always booming. Probably even more so then the last time I played. It may just be due to the Iron Banner, IDK. I just have to make some new friends. :)

This is probably a noob question but I'm a little confused. On some of your configs, it's says Kpad#, what is that? It kinda sounds like a keyboard button. I thought you were using the Nav and LGS 502? Sorry again for the noob question lol

Hey MacMiggz,

Welcome to the forum!

Nothing wrong with noob questions  ;)

I do use a Nav instead of a KB. However, you can still hook a KB up to the XIM4 and use it's buttons if so desired. So I have the Nav "wireless" and then I bought a little $5.00 keypad (just numbers) so I could have some extra buttons for macros and config activation, things like that. Everything will be recognized by the XIM4. This allows me to use the Kpad (numbers on the right side of the KB) on my lap top with LGS. Then I can match that number in XIM4 manager using the Kpad that's connected to the XIM4.

Make Sense?

I have a noob question too   :)

Does sensitivity affect curves? Like if I am in xim manager and I decrease or increase my sensitivity, do I need to change the curve, or does the curve stay the same regardless of sensitivity?

I am currently using a very small curve and have turned steady aim off and long/mid feels great, however if someone is close/mid and starts strafing left/right I do get quite a bit of aim wobble, when I am around their head.

I am using a nav and a g502. I have 12000 DPI, hip 16 and ADS 4.

RML,
I see you recently update this, are you still enjoying the curves and everything you did?  I mean, I guess you would have changed it when you update it had you disliked anything.
I just had a quick question;
When I copied your config, I noticed that you changed the joystick deadzone from the default 7500 to  5000, was this intentional?  I wasn't sure as I didn't see anything mentioned about it.  Admittedly, I only skimmed all 14 pages.

thanks.

Sry was out of town for a bit. As far as sensitivity changing the way a curve feels ... Yes it can. How much? Well that really depends on the game's turn speed limit. Basically the faster you hit max turn speed, the faster you burn through your curve. So for REALLY aggressive curves you typically want to turn your sens way down or you'll be hitting the turn cap almost immediately.

As for the question about Stick Dead zone. At the time (when I created this thread) I was playing around with practically everything. What I've learned since, is that Left Stick Deadzone doesn't work as well for Smaller Deadzones as it does for larger deadzones. I believe this is because the deadzone is already pretty small and movement is nearly immediate. I didn't really see any improvement in responsiveness by using a smaller deadzone. What I did find is that if you get your DZ too small it glitches the menu screens and sometimes becomes non-responsive. I also found that increasing the Deadzone could be very beneficial in some games. For example, while playing the Witcher 3 I found that controlling the horse was much easier and more enjoyable while using a much larger dead zone.

Hope that helps.

Did you ever get one in year 1?  If so you can just buy the year 2 hawk moon,  if not, they drop as all exotics do now (3 of coins helps).  No more exotic bounties .  I just got one last week from oryx
