SMART TRANSLATORS V2

XIM Community members, I'm pleased to be able to release a test version of something we've been working hard on for the last several months. XIM's proprietary Smart Translator technology delivers the best possible console aiming experience consistently across every game. So what could be improved?

We are obviously very secretive about how Smart Translators work. You do know that they are constructed by a custom computer vision-based system I've developed (called the "Smart Trainer"). That hasn't changed. The amount of data that is captured by the Smart Trainer system is enormous. Being able to tap into the entirety of that data is a challenge within the compute budget of XIM4. Smart Translators V2 is the complete rewrite and advancement of the technology to unlock all the data contained within the Translators. The new system is so optimal, space was freed such that Config count limit has been raised as well. We've also improved the editing experience (such as numeric input using keyboards and large buttons/hit targets on the UI) and fixed console shutdown suspend states.

This is a Release Candidate -- meaning, consider it Beta. We are looking for feedback. Let us know how it feels. Does it feel better, worse, no change? What's different for you?

Unfortunately, large changes like this mean it's breaking. You will need to recreate your Configs and re-pair your devices to your XIM4.

Looking forward to your feedback!

UPDATE: To confirm you are running STv2, press the center of the box art picture on the main Manager screen and it'll show you the current ST's identifier. It should end in a '*'.

IOS SUPPORT

XIM Community members, I'm very happy to announce the availably of XIM4 Manager for iOS!

iOS support is an important milestone for us. Obviously iOS is a major platform that many of our community members have asked for. However, the accomplishment from a technical perspective was important given Apple's significant restrictions it places on use of its Bluetooth radio. Plus the architecture changes required in XIM4 to support it.

If you've used a PC and Android device you'll notice two major differences with iOS:

  • Pairing is now done via XIM4 Manager rather than the OS (please see instructions within the release notes)
  • iOS wireless communication is noticeably slower than Android and PC

You may be asking: "Why would communication between XIM4 and Manager running on iOS be slower?"

Unlike Android and PC, Apple restricts usage of iPhone and iPad's Bluetooth radio. As a result, we were forced to use slower Bluetooth protocols. Expect some operations (like adding a new Config) to take around 15 seconds. Normal editing of your Config isn't as heavy of an operation so the difference won't be as apparent. We don't feel this speed difference degrades the experience, but, I wanted to bring it to your attention so you don't think something is wrong with Manager.

As always, feedback is welcome and encouraged!

A new Release Candidate firmware and Manager drop is now available:  Firmware 20150716. and  Manager 20150716.

This new drop contains a new feature called Simulated ADS Toggle to give gamers the ability to toggle ADS in games that don't support it. It is located under Advanced Activation settings.

When you have your Aim Down Sight Settings configured to "Toggle" under Activation, your XIM4 will now hold down that button on your behalf. Since games can break out of aim-down-sight based on other actions (such as sprinting, reloading, changing weapons, etc.), a new feature called Deactivation Keys is introduced. Set these keys to functions that automatically break out of aim-down-sight. Then your XIM4 will know when it should return to your Hip settings and stay in-sync with your game.

X1 CONTROLLER W/INTEGRATED AUDIO JACK FIX

This new drop also contains a fix for Xbox One gamers using the new Xbox One Controller with Integrated Audio Jack. Please note that, unlike the original controller, you must press the Guide button after your XIM4 starts to turn on the controller.

A new Release Candidate firmware and Manager drop is now available:  Firmware 20150816. and  Manager 20150816.

This new drop contains a new feature called Steady Aim which is designed to optimize Auto Aim behavior in some games (namely, the Call Of Duty franchise). Smart Translators v2 is our highest precision and most responsive translation tech to date. However, some gamers reported feeling like they were fighting against Auto Aim. We took the feedback and found CoD's Auto Aim system susceptible to variances/slight-instabilities of hand movement that is caused by today's ultra high DPI mice. This new feature steadies your aim without affecting micro-aiming or making it feel laggy or unresponsive.

It recommended that if you want to try Steady Aim that you start with your CoD Aim Down Sight Settings.

Steady Aim is not recommended for games like Halo or Destiny.

You can find Steady Aim is located under "Advanced" within your Mouse Settings.

A new Release Candidate firmware drop is now available: Firmware 20151110 (NOTE: you will continue to use Manager 20150816 with it).

This new drop contains improvements such as Xbox One Elite controller support (including cross console), PlayStation 4 TouchPad support, reenable of wireless Sony Move Nav (was disabled in the last Beta), and several stability improvements to wireless communication, audio fidelity, and hardware compatibility.

You'll also notice that, on startup, your XIM4 will now notify you when initialization is complete by displaying four rapid green blinks.

And, for PlayStation 4 users, pressing the PS button on your Dualshock 4 is no longer required at startup (your controller will now connect automatically).

A new Release Candidate firmware drop and Manager is now available: Firmware 20151120, Manager 20151120

This release also contains a new Console Controller Crossover Config that makes using controllers from other consoles simple. When you add a new Config of this type to your XIM4, it'll automatically configure it with all the correct button bindings so you can start gaming immediately. As always, to use crossover support, set up your XIM4 normally but plug in your controller from a different console into a front port on your XIM4. Then, load this new Config type and you are ready to go.

Please check out the release notes for the complete list. And, as always, we look forward to your feedback!

A new Release Candidate firmware drop and Manager is now available: Firmware 20160104, Manager 20160104

This new drop contains all our latest fixes/improvements:

- Enable audio adapter and chatpad on X1 controller with integrated audio
- Fix inability to reconnect on iOS without having to restart Manager
- Enable cross console support for X1 controllers with integrated audio
- Fix Bluetooth connection issues on Android versions 4.0 and 4.1
- Improve controller compatibility when using XIM4 on PC

For the iOS reconnect fix, you must already be in our TestFlight. Otherwise, iOS users should continue to use the existing Manager from the Apple App Store while we wait for Apple approval. But please upgrade your firmware -- it is compatible.

Just like the last RC, on startup, your XIM4 will now notify you when initialization is complete by displaying four rapid green blinks.

And, for PlayStation 4 users, pressing the PS button on your Dualshock 4 is no longer required at startup (your controller will now connect automatically).

Please check out the release notes for the complete list. And, as always, we look forward to your feedback!

A new Release Candidate firmware drop and Manager is now available: Firmware 20160121, Manager 20160121

This new drop contains a USB timing fix which was causing purple lights for some users. This fix doesn't apply to those using a CM/T1 with their XIM4 (you will still see purple lights). T1 is fixing that now.

A new Release Candidate firmware drop and Manager is now available: Firmware 20160214, Manager 20160214

NOTE: iOS users should not upgrade to this firmware unless they are part of our TestFlight.

This new drop contains a Bluetooth discovery fix to which was causing invalid "XIM4" device entries to show in both iOS and Windows 10.  It also contains a new Backup/Restore Config and Globals feature available through the Flash Tool. You can Backup from earlier versions of the XIM4 firmware, but, can only restore using the latest firmware.

This drop also changes the Enable USB Device Hot Swapping setting under Globals to Disable USB Device Hot Swapping. If you are using a KVM, you need to be aware of this change.

Just like the last RC, on startup, your XIM4 will now notify you when initialization is complete by displaying four rapid green blinks.

And, for PlayStation 4 users, pressing the PS button on your Dualshock 4 is no longer required at startup (your controller will now connect automatically).
