[ACTIVE] M/kb siwtch question
« on: 05:53 PM - 02/12/15 »
I have an iongear m/kb switcher. On the xim3 and ps3, the switch worked seamlessly. With the xim4 and ps4, the mouse does not work. I was wondering if this problem exists due to lack of power for the mouse?
I really have no idea. While its not a huge issue I was wondering if there were any answers or other alternatives. Thank you

It is possible, yes.  Is this what you're doing?

    console - xim4 - switch - m/kb

If so, the switch is getting its power from the budget the console provides the xim4 with.  The budget is enough to run one beefy peripheral (or one charging peripheral), but is usually enough to run the xim4 and a few well-behaved peripherals.  Logitech devices, for instance, are not very well-behaved when it comes to power conservation, and tend to push it too far.

One option is to reduce all possible power usage, e.g. turn off LEDs and secondary displays, that sort of thing.  Especially try it with just the mouse attached.  If you can get the mouse to work with nothing else drawing power, that might tell us you're pushing the budget limits with the mouse.
