New to XIM - Mouse and Keyboard Suggestio
« on: 01:08 PM - 09/03/14 »
After long wait , finally pulled the trigger today.
I was wondering which mouse and keyboard will be best to use with xim .
I was thinking of Logitech G700s or Logitech G502 . I have tried both in best buy but I felt G502 was more comfortable . Any suggestion .
Can I use any regular keyboard or Do I have to purchase the keyboard only from the working list ?
As I have a spare old keyboard sitting around in my office which I can use ?
Thanks.

Welcome to the community. You can't go wrong with Logitech mice. I personally really like the G700s since it can be wireless. People really like the G502 as well.

Concerning keyboards, have you considered trying analog control for movement?

Thanks for quick response .
I did try g700s demo and buttons on it felt little too hard and a little small so I was not sure how it will be while playing bf4 . I did consider it as it is wireless .
I would like analog for control and I did look into Logitech g13. I use to play fps on PC before I bought ps3 and now ps4 . so I feel like I can manage without analog for movements.

Many regular keyboard will just work.  Perversely, the keyboards most likely not to work (though not often really) are the gaming keyboards, because unlike regular keyboards, they try to do a lot of stuff and often require custom Windows drivers.

If a keyboard works to navigate your PC's BIOS screen, it'll usually work with the XIM4.

By the way, the G13 is only one option for analog.  We also support the Sony Move Navigation controller.  It's a little short on buttons, but it does work well for analog strafing/movement.

Thanks Aiken_Drum .
I have two combination in mind
Wired - g502 & g13/regular keyboard
Wireless - g700s & Sony nav
The only thing I am worried about is charging and any lag if I go wireless .

I thought the xim had to have wired mouse and keyboard?  Or was that only with past models (I swear that was the rule with my xim3)?

Oneiro:

The nav holds a charge for quite a while.  I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Shane:

You can use wireless as long as the keyboard/mouse has a dongle.  As long as they're something physically plugged in and talking to XIM, it doesn't care if there's a wire on the other side.  It just can't do wireless directly, not without a dedicated dongle.

the g502 has feet issues, it starts to wear off/peeling in like the second day of use and it happens to EVERYBODY.... google it.
