Amazon will put it onto their EC2 system (Better Performance)
Amazon will re-write the APIs (they know what they are doing with them)
Amazon will take advantage of their S3 system for Large Storage (Cough Videos)

Thanks for the incite abc. I'm glad the google deal isn't happening, there was just too many what ifs. While Amazon apparently has a good history of letting acquisitions run independently and be successful.

Except, they have eaten up LoveFilm here in the UK - stripped away game rentals, integrated LoveFilm instant into Amazon - so now you have to pay for both Amazon Prime membership and LoveFilm by Post seperately, whereas it was a single monthly fee (Game rentals, movie rentals and video streaming) before Amazon ripped it apart.

In 5 years times, I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon starts rebranding Twitch into Amazon Prime Broadcast...

We weren't wrong.  Google was close to a done deal.  Twitch began to have reservations about innovation being stifled if Google controlled YouiTube and Twitch and Amazon played that angle up and swooped in.

Maybe, but it's a little different from the video-streaming absorptions they've done.  This will really be the foundation of anything they do, rather than being merged with anything new they do.  I don't see any reason why they'd take an established, not to mention quite nicely chosen, brand name like Twitch and genericize it to Amazon _____, but I guess it's possible.  Maybe if they mean to make it less dedicated to just game streaming and more open to other kinds of broadcasts, which I suppose is what you were saying, so maybe ignore this whole paragraph, now that you're done reading it.   ::)

Yea I cant really say I'm dissappointed...  I really didn't I've the idea of Google taking over though. I definitely didn't see this coming.
