How to become a better FPS player in general

It doesn't matter that the game footages are from Counter-Strike. This can be applied to pretty much any FPS title.

Crosshair Placement by adreN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9mvXfnY8wU
Crosshair Placement by n0thing: www.twitch.tv/n0thingtv/b/554943753?t=01h50m44s

Summary/Sidenote: Aim close to where their head or torso will be. Keep your crosshair close to the edge, except for when you can hear them running, you'd want to place your crosshair slightly away from the edge, so that you have an easier time tracking the enemy as soon as they pop out of the corner.

It's not always true it's best to aim at head level. It all depends on the distance between you and your opponent, both of your movements and what you two can work around in regard of the map.
If your opponent is close to cover, where they can re-peek quickly, you want to aim for the head. If your opponent is out in the open and doesn't strafe dance, then you want to aim for the "mass center" and spray them down.

Recoil Control by n0thing:

Sensitivity by CoreHaven & Impulsive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxBuiD11WDM

Sidenote: A sensitivity of 30-45cm/360 is the ideal sensitivity, and most commonly used by pros in Quake, Counter-Strike and Battlefield.
Though any turn speed cap would most likely need to be compensated with higher sensitivity however.

You can find your cm/360 here. As well as use the same sensitivity through the most popular FPS titles on mouse-sensitivity.com.

Peeking Advice by adreN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TbI1gk4DXg

Sidenote: The way geometry works, the one who is furthest away from the corner always has a peeking advantage. For example, like in this picture.

In real life tactics it's called "Slice the Pie", which you can read more about here.

Edit: Added a few links for sensitivity.

Edit #2: Rephrased acceleration with turn speed cap.

I loved 1.6 as much as the next guy but cs:go's playerbase and viewership is higher than ever.

I'm predicting 300K+ to watch the finals at ESL cologne coming up. They get over 200K at the last esl.

I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly, then it was something around 280k at DHS and somewhere around 250k at ESL Katowice. That's also included GOTV viewers.

The exact numbers can be found in the dev blogs.

Ah, it was Adblock Plus that didn't make it show up. Hehe, yeah, it's from Inland Empire. I believe the movie lasted for 3 hours or something, and I started watching it pretty late at night. I was just about to fall asleep, and that friggin' face showed up, with really loud sounds. Scarred for life.

Hah, yeah, nothing like being half asleep and something nightmarish comes up.  Anyway, sorry, I don't mean to hijack your thread.  :)  Back to business.

It's true, though I think it also generated the first waves of aimbots and wallhacks.  I won't forget the first time I realized that it was not luck when some jerkwad headshotted me through a wall while I listened contentedly to opera on the radio.

Still, good times.

1.6 Was my first FPS game ever. But, since friends wanted to play CoD on console at the time, I moved on :/

Even public hacks found through Google bypassed VAC for years, too. However, now though, Valve has really stepped up their game. 9 out of 10 cheats get detected within a month, except for those league-proof triggerbots and whatnot, but even with only those cheats, you can still get outaimed or outsmarted, because of proper crosshair placement, baiting, faking and playing around with nades.

Great videos.

Glad you liked them. Players who aren't fully aware of these advices will without a doubt get a lot better at whatever FPS they're playing, by applying these tips.
Be as aware as you possibly can, every single round, about these habits, and they will eventually become second nature to you, and you won't even think about them anymore.

Just like peeking at the radar or repositioning your mouse in dead time will also become second nature to you, eventually.
