Clearance delay in Canada

I called Fedex and they said it is Shipper's problem....and they are waiting for shipper's response....

I have the same message, my estimate for arrival is still tomorrow.

Though if they need team XIM to contact them I hope it is dealt with today.

Mine is stuck in Calgary at the moment with the same delay,  but don't worry this is completely normal. Whenever you ship something Internationally, whether to or from the US, there is a Customs delay. This rarely means that your package has been found suspicious or illegal - they just take a day...(hopefully, thats all)...to make sure your paperwork is in order. Unfortunately, there are some countries that are known for credit card fraud; sometimes it takes a bit longer.

Most likely, your package will clear within a couple of days, and it probably won't even have been opened.

Clear within a couple days means i wont get it until Tuesday of next week at the earliest considering there is a long weekend here.

It "may" take up to a couple days, it doesn't mean that it will, just sit tight.

People who have had this problem, check your status with FEDEX again, mine updated with "picked up" in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I just spoke with Fed Ex and she advised me that the item was picked up in Las Vegas, most likely from the Fed Ex office, and currently on it's way.

I was advised to check the tracking in the morning.

I'm guessing the clearance delay was some sort of pre authorization before reaching customs.

My guess is  they send export paperwork electronically ahead to port of entry first

Actually Clearance into Canada is Required to be sent Electronically by Licensed Carriers (which FEDEX is one of course) when the Law came into effective January 1st.  Not submitting electronically causes delays and the Carrier will have to pay a fine. 

PRE Clearance is common among large Carriers with their own Brokerage operations and usually speeds the process significantly (It actually never goes to customs physically unless there is an issue or random inspection) and is held in a Bonded Warehouse until cleared (on the Canadian Side)

Since Fedex is not allowed to clear something they don't have physical possession of yet, they will usually mark it as customs delay when they get the electronic information before they pickup the package.
